Overclock odroid c2 in Libreelec

Unread post by plikmuny » Wed Feb 14, 2018 5:29 am

I searched this forum for overclocking odroid c2. All I found was ram overclock. I followed it and succeeded.
Now I want to have a script to overclock c2.
Is there a simple guide to do so?
Thanks in advance. Also pls tell me how to make the changes permanent once I reboot.

Look here:

http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id= ... t_cpu_freq

This works for me on libreelec also but expect not to much. If you rise it too much sometimes a core stuck.

How do I access boot.ini once I flash Libreelec onto emmc?
Is there a program or ftp or computer?

Just switch SSH on in libreelec and log in over SSH. Then you have to remount flash to read write. And then you can edit boot.ini with nano.

Yes this works.
Commands you need:

for mounting:

Code: Select all

mount /flash -o remount,rw
for editing:

Code: Select all

nano /flash/boot.ini

1752 frequency is unstable for me. All I can run is 1656 without any freezing or hangups. Is there a trick to run it at 1752 without freezing?

i have found this post from wrxtasy on forum.kodi.tv where core-voltage seems to be pushed to get 1,75Ghz out of our loved C2. 8-)
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?ti ... pid2675402

@wrxtasy could you explain if and how we can use your patch for other releases/OS so we can all benefit from your efforts.
would be really nice!

I did.
GPU-Overclock works
RAM-Overclock works
CPU-Overclock works until 1680Mhz here, if I/we want more we have to use wrxtasy´s build i think.
Maybe other devs use the uboot-core-voltage patch as well, would love to try it :o

AmazonVOD in 1080p (SW-Decode) nealy works with these settings on Raybuntu´s LibreELEC leia21:
CPU: 1680Mhz
RAM: 1104Mhz
GPU: 792Mhz
Nealy works means: stuttering(frameskip) only on heavy bitrate scenes.

Had the same on my C2 only on raybuntu leia 23. With GPU overclock the UI is much faster. Great, know is it like it should.

How i did this:
1. CPU:

Code: Select all

mount /flash -o remount,rw

Code: Select all

nano /flash/boot.ini
just modify the corrseponding line:

Code: Select all

setenv max_freq "1680"

2. RAM:

Code: Select all

wget http://dn.odroid.com/S905/BootLoader/ODROID-C2/c2_update_ddrclk.sh -O ram && chmod +x ram
./ram 1104

3. GPU:

Code: Select all

echo "echo 5 > /sys/class/mpgpu/cur_freq" >> /storage/.config/autostart.sh

Does it work on latest build from Raybuntu's build or only in particular version? Which version of LE have you tried it?
Thanks in advance. .

Where did you get the adamg build for odroid c2?
As far as I know there is no build from adamg build for c2. Can you share a link to download and tell me how to update from rb24 build to adamg 04.04.18 build?
Thanks in advance.

How do i check if the gpu is on 792Mhz?

Is there no way to edit the RAM and GPU frequencies like the CPU? I'm doing it by plugging the eMMC into a card reader and edit the boot.ini it with Notepad++ in Windows.
Linux is beyond me.

This method works flawlessly no matter which version of Libreelec or Coreelec you are using. Just give it a try and enjoy the benifits...

Thank the one who created this guide and also the developer.
