No gpio ir recv module in 4.14 releases

Unread post by crazyquark » Wed Dec 20, 2017 7:01 am

Hi,

I upgraded today to 4.14 and noticed there is no gpio ir recv module for my cloudshell 2.
I really need that module for my setup so I downgraded to 4.9 for now.

Hi crazyquark,

gpio-ir-recv module is included but,
gpioplug-ir-recv module isn't contained within the latest 4.14 release.

It will be merged in the next release soon
then, you can use IR function as you did with 4.9.y. ;)
I will share the version once it's done.

Hello crazyquark,
A new package has been released and gpio ir-related commits are included.
Please update and upgrade kernel package.

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y
If you meet a dialogue box, select "No" to process the kernel update.
And reboot.

The version should be 4.14.9-94.

Code: Select all

root@odroid:~# uname -a
Linux odroid 4.14.9-94 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Dec 26 18:42:25 UTC 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

Hi,

Just upgraded to 4.14.11-97 and the driver is indeed there.
I haven't tested the functionality yet as I am not in range of the IR sensor but I think it should work :).

Thank you!

Hi.
Thank you for your response.
With the version, it should work.
If you have any issue about IR after upgrade, please let me know. :)

Hmm, why do you need gpioplug-ir-recv? You can use gpio-ir-recv alone with corresponding DTS entry:

Code: Select all

...
        ir_recv: ir-receiver {
                compatible = "gpio-ir-receiver";
                gpios = <&gpx2 0 GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW>;
        };
...

Sorry, forgot to reply. The IR receiver works properly on kernel 4.14, no need for any extra modules.

ir sensor on cloudshell

Unread post by Iraro » Tue Jun 05, 2018 8:37 pm

i am trying to configure my remote with the odroid xu4(+cloudshell) by lirc setup .the console tells me to" hold down an arbitary key " ,when i hold down my remote controller key.The ir sensor does not record my remote readings and in the console it displays "TimeOut ((10 sec),giving up).
I want to know whether my ir sensor in cloudshell is working or not ,how should i do so.
or please let me know i am doing something wrong?

ir sensor on cloudshell

Unread post by Iraro » Wed Jun 06, 2018 6:51 pm

i am having another odroid in which the kernel version is (3.10.106+), and i am able to configure my ir remote effectively. But the odroid with the higher kernel version showing the same problem as narrated before to you . why is it so?
it will be better if you provide me the information to downgrade my kernel version or share me the link of the "Linux image of version 3.10.106+"
