@codwapeace It's off topic - there are more apriopriate threads for C2 problems, but check your unit for overheating:

Code: Select all
cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp

should be below 80 degrees at all times afaik.

If it's the case, then improve airflow within you case ;)
Use interactive or hotplug governor - it keeps the SoC cooler.

I have the same problem. I had not time to investigate, but it seems that instead of CPU freq throttling cores are being shut down to keep the SoC safe from overheating. I also noticed, that once a core is down it will not go up (at least not within a few minutes after the temp is back to 'normal')

Anyway - I've attached a small fan to one box and it did great job at keeping it cool. In another box I used a trick - I've turned the whole case to vertical position long side. It improved the airflow inside significantly.

Thanks a lot jurand. I changed the governor to interactive.

Hello,

the stock Odroid IR remote no longer works on my C1+ after upgrading from OpenElec 7.0.3 to 8.0.4a. :(
It worked perfectly just before the upgrade. I even tried replacing the batteries.

Any hint?

Thank you!

Hi wrxtasy!

As usual big thank you for the 17.4 final - mostly due to adaptive stream working perfectly now.
One thing only - my C1+ does crash due to high temp caused by overclocking. I had to remove it from the very well ventilated box - it was crashing at 68 C.
How to create a high load on LE? Try to pla a BluRay VC1 encoded video with original bitrate - in my case after 15-20 mins Odroid was crashing. I changed only the governor to the conservative one and all is good again. Low 50 C. Still, such a file puts a great load on cpu, it will go high in the freq. Lower bitrate, lower freq, lower temp.
Running off of EMMC is speedy enough. No need for overclock in my case.

PS. In case somebody else wants to decrease a temp - create a autostart.sh as per this instructions:
https://wiki.libreelec.tv/autostart.sh?s[]=startup
make it executable via chmod +x autostart.sh
and put this into the file:

(
echo conservative > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor;
) &

It will lower your cpu temp by 10-15 C. You can also try to limit max cpu speed, but this governor is really conservative :)

PS2. I know one can set freq via boot.ini but what about governor?
PS3. Is your PayPal button disabled, wrxtasy? I think you could use some beer, huh ?? :)

Of course it was already enabled. But Odroid's remote won't work, period.
It works without issues in your latest OpenElec.

@wrxtasy et all

I think I've found a serious bug. Seems every movie with Dolby TrueHD track is causing Kodi 17.4 to crash after 10 to 40 minutes. I have checked also Openelec 7.0.0 because I remeber I had no problems back then, and actually, no problems with the same movies.
If somebody could verify that - you need a bluray rip with trueHD track. Just let it run and observe if it will get to the end without crashing. I have Kodi crash logs, if anybody would be interested.
The movie which crashes with truehd, is being played correctly if I change the track to non-truehd, so it seems to me like audio decoder issue and not video one.

I would need support for another wifi usb dongle with the mt7601u chipset. It seems that the binary drivers are already part of the build, but there is no kernel module to load them and the dongle is not working. I tried to understand the libreelec build process and how to add additional kernel modules but up to now with little success. Is there any chance this could be included in a next release?

Cheers!

Put the tar file into /storage/.update and reboot. Or, there is a samba share called update. Put it there and reboot.

Hi,

EDIT: Whoops, simple things made complicated! Better follow Marszczak's advice than mine!

Look previously in this thread, I believe I have outlined it there previously.

More specifically, you should have tgwo partitions on your existing card. On my card this is the setup:

Code: Select all
# parted
GNU Parted 3.2
Using /dev/mmcblk0
Welcome to GNU Parted! Type 'help' to view a list of commands.
(parted) p
p
Model: SD SA64G (sd/mmc)
Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 62.0GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos
Disk Flags:

 2      539MB   62.0GB  61.4GB  primary  ext4

(parted)

The ext4 partition is the storage partition, and it's size should vary according to your µSDcard/eMMC module size. The fat16 partition should be labeled "LIBREELEC", and has the read-only image of libreelec, kernel, bootloader etc.:
Code: Select all
# ls -l
total 137976
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       3597376 Oct  3 16:53 INITRD
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root            48 Oct  3 16:53 INITRD.md5

-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         19720 Mar  9  2017 meson8b_odroidc.dtb

AFAIK the bootloader has not changed (and there would be little reason to change it at every upgrade), but INITRD, KERNEL and SYSTEM have changed. By checking the md5sums this is easy to confirm (and indeed meson8b_odroidc.dtb has not changed).

You need to extract these from LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.1.1.tar linked above.

Very good job ! It's smooth and all works out of the box:
- IR remote controller (just enable LIRC in service)
- wifi (rtl8812au, TP-Link T4U)
- language (in look a feel extensions)

Hello,
I'm really excited to have KODI and LibreELEC working on my C1+. Everything was working great using ethernet, but when I connect the ODROID Wifi Module 0 things fall apart.
LibreELEC sees I have a wireless adapter installed, but doesn't list anything in the "connections" tab. I'd be happy to troubleshoot further, but I don't know where to start.

The adapter works fine as it is recognized on my PC and a different KODI box, not running on a C1+. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

**EDIT***

The new file 8.1.1 has fixed this problem!

Has anyone experienced problems with the TuneIn addon? The addon won't start and produces an error message. Not sure if it's a general LibreElec thing, specific to this build, or if my install is somehow wrecked. It is running fine on WIN and Android Kryptrons and on wrxtasy's OpenElec for the C1+ (Jarvis). But not since LibreElec for C1+.

If anyone has any thoughts or experiences on this, I'd appreciate it :)

Hi Everyone,

I'm running 8.1.1 on my C1 and it works a treat. Great work wrxtasy. I'm mostly using the TVHeadend PVR client and watching media from the NAS via SMB. I have a 32gb EMMc module installed and it hasn't missed a beat.

The only problem I've run into is when I try to add a DLNA source. When I browse for unpnp servers, there aren't any listed. Trying to browse by IP address doesn't work either. I have Twonky running on the NAS and every other device on the network except the C1 can see it.

Is anyone happily connected to a DLNA source using 8.1.1?

bb

*Did a bit more googling and found a solution - Enable wait for network before starting Kodi :D

Has anyone been able to change the refresh rate?

Mine seems to be stuck at 60Hz, which is not optimal for 50Hz or 24Hz (movies) content...

If KODI on Mali can not change Refresh on-the-fly, even a workaround (in boot.ini?) would be welcome!

Ok, this is weird.

A bit googling and I changed boot.ini:

Code: Select all
setenv video_output "1080p24hz"

And it boots in 24Hz now. But once it booted in 720p! And twice I had a crash (of KODI, not the whole Odroid C1) while going to live TV menu which I've not had before.

In addition, it seems automatic refresh rate just started working - now I get all 24Hz, 60Hz and 50Hz without a reboot! This has never worked for me before.

Just FYI (everyone subscribed to this thread), at least there was one user (jurand) who also had issues with refresh rate.

Starting to become a monoloque ...

But it seems that on-the-fly refresh changing was working for just a few boots. Now it just started working as it used to be: refresh rate will be locked at whatever is entered in boot.ini. The options to control refresh rate in kodi are greyed out again. So, automatic refresh rate changing is not working reliably; it seems it is a hit-and-miss (or, 90-95% miss and 5% hit, and I still don't know why it worked on the few reboots it did).

At least I can change the refresh rate manually by editing boot.ini and rebooting. Not optimal, but better than judder!

Try different HDMI cable. At first I was also experiencing similar issues but then I got PS4 and got the chance to use its HDMI. Never had refresh rate sync problems since then except for one 30fps video which didn't sync but it could be my tv set not supporting that rate, idk.

No, it was not the cable (I'd presume there'd be intermittent errors in the picture rather than a consistent lack of a feature in case a bad cable was the issue). With another brand new cable, issue remains.

FWIW, I'm not talking about (perceived / ambiquous) sync / playback issues, but the fact that the UI has the options grayed out most of the time. For me, the Odroid C1 will be locked at the refresh rate set in boot.ini 90% of the time (but works without any issues at that refresh rate). The other (5-10% of boots, which seem to be random; also 'systemctl restart kodi' might suffice) the options are settable (and working, as confirmed by my TVs OSD). As another tip, sometimes there are more resolution enumerated too; usually it's just 720p and 1080p (which is enough, I'd let KODI to scaling in any case since it's probably better than my TV), but sometimes there's plethora of more, like interlaced modes, available. So, it seems that the driver has trouble acquiring EDID information ?

(Just to point out the issue, I'm talking about Settings -> System Settings -> Display: "Resolution" and "Refresh Rate"; the former has 1080p and 720p availabe and the latter is greyed out, locked at boot.ini setting; except that sometimes, very seldomly, more options are available and refresh rate automatic switching is also working - until I reboot).

I should have taken a look at the EDID infromation from the logs before.

There certainly is something going wrong; the EDID information differst slightly on every read. I get this in journal:

Code: Select all
# journalctl | grep -i edid
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: edid ready
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: edid ready
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: 62 errors between two reading
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: check sum invalid
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: check sum invalid
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: blk0 raw data
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: blk1 raw data
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: check sum invalid
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: check sum invalid
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: blk0 raw data
Feb 05 15:30:53 LibreELEC kernel: hdmitx: edid: blk1 raw data

And the raw EDID data is slightly different (also in the logs) on every read. Re-pluggin the HDMI cable causes it to be re-read every time (XX error between two readings always differs). I've tried with two different microHDMI cables (one new and one I got with the ODroid) and three different regular cables with an adapter.

I tried to read the edid data with a laptop (Macbook Pro ... in /sys/..../card0-DP0/edid) and that data can be parsed with parse-edid. The data blocks read by ODroid are similar (i.e. the same data) but have random errrors in them (and parse-edid can not parse them, contrary to the intact data I can get on the MBP).

Maybe it's just me? It should be trivial to check what one has in the journal about edid.

Now there might be a way to force edid as a kernel option (IIRC), and now that I got the actual correct EDID, that might be a workaround for me ...

Ok, now I'm actually getting somewhere!

Scouring the internets and this forum I found some more information. Trouble getting EDID seems not to be that uncommon an issue (on several platforms). However, something that was new information for me is that the design fault described here on this forum that causes CEC not to function will often (always?) also make EDID information unobtainable. I've not made the HW fix / mod so far since I can live without CEC, but also without EDID ! Well, now I have more motivation to actually make the mod! In my case EDID can be half-red and sometimes part of the modes really supported by my TV are detected (and sometimes all, sometimes none = disp_cap = null edid).

However, it is also possible to force KODI to support modes. Setting modes that your monitor does not support might break it (well, I'm under the assumption this is only true for older generation CRTs, but that assumption might not be safe).

So, in case refresh rates and / or resolution switching is unavailable, either make the HW mod in the thread above (untested) or put in /flash/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap WARNING: Only set modes you know that your monitor can actually support. :
Code: Select all
1080i
1080i50hz
1080p
1080p24hz
1080p50hz
1080p60hz
1440x900p60hz
480p
576p
720p
720p50hz

Does the support for this platform has been dropped? Maybe the only one developer (@wrxtasy) has to concentrate on N1?

Sadly AFAIK there's no one developing for C1(+) ATM.

It was asked previously if there will be a Leia release for C1(+) here, sadly the answer seems to be no in the current intereset of developers.

As this is volunteer work, I believe someone should step up to develop. I don't have the skills to do so.

Does this version have an settings we need to tweak for optimal performance/buffering/etc? My video stutters sometimes. Could be HDHR as well. Thanks for all the work. Like the interface.

Also, I record TV with HDHomerun. LE is not showing recent shows. Shouldn't it automatically update like daily?

@wrxtasy I've tried build 8.1.1 from the link here

http://wrxtasy.libreelec.tv/C1/

but when i play a video from my local harddisk i just get a blackscreen.
Is it a build issue or mine?

EDIT: It seems to be related with a display setting problem, I need to pause and then stop the video in order to "exit" to the dashboard succesfully. In case i go directly for the "stop" button i need to unplug/plug my display again to see something

Also i've noticed that when compiling from your repo i receive the error 404 Not found on kernel sources 3.10 a465199, it's trying to reach dropbox apparently.

Also how do you install docker on this build? Can't find it in the Libreelec repo
From what i've seen here

https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/6110- ... tallation/

docker will never be supported on kernel 3.10.x, so having libreelec with 3.10.x is really a pity

EDIT: Could we have any luck from here https://github.com/umiddelb/armhf/wiki/ ... ARM-device, Odroid c1+ could have 4.x kernel support

Can't make this work in an old c1 (not "c1+"). I get a boot loop after Kodi splash. I don't even know how to avoid booting into kodi so I can see the logs or something. I tried lowering the max_freq in the boot.ini but it's the same issue. Any help is welcome!

edit: changed the boot.ini to textmode debugging progress and was able to boot to a prompt. No kodi logs nevertheless. Don't know what is causing the crashing. Thoought it was the wifi dongle, removed but kodi crashed anyways.
