Unread post by Cesar Angel Fuoco » Fri Sep 30, 2016 4:51 am

Hi there,

I want to hide the volume up/down from navigation bar.

Do I have to rebuild some module from AOSP framework?

I am working w/ C1+ Android 5.1.1 v1.2

Hi there!
If you want to hide volume button, you have to rebuild SystemUI framework.

Here are hints:
System UI path from odroid-C1+ aosp - ~/frameworks/base/packages/SystemUI/
And some point - <SystemUI path> /layout-sw600dp/navigation_bar.xml, <SystemUI path>/src/com/android/systemui/statusbar/phone/NavigationBarVieww.jara

Fix some source code lines and compile it, Its makes hide volume key.

I hope it help you!

Oh I see! So first step is to download android sources, edit navigation_bar.xml and NavigationBarView.java as you mentioned.

Doing the following take too much time in my computer, think i am doing something wrong...

$ repo init -u https://github.com/hardkernel/android.git -b s805_5.1.1_master
$ repo sync

Do you know how to clone android sources for 5.1.1_v1.2 ?

You are not wrong!
That commands spend many time.
Android source code take almost 100GB and compile time is very long (In my system, it spend 1 hour)
Because, the repository have the all of android source code.
Please be patient for download.

Finally I have aosp in my hands.

What I did: a partial compilation for SystemUI

$ source build/envsetup.sh
$ lunch odroidc-eng
$ mmm frameworks/base/packages/SystemUI/

This is the output after partial compilation

Install: out/target/product/odroidc/data/app/SystemUITests/SystemUITests.apk
make: Leaving directory `/home/aosp'
#### make completed successfully (01:20 (mm:ss)) ####

Then I send SystemUITests.apk to the android path /system/priv-app/SystemUI but without glory.... When I reboot I lost navigation bar :(

Yes of course,

I reboot couple of times.

I have saved the original SystemUI so I could restore it without problem.

Solved! :D

I opened your path file, and figured out that I was doing the same changes on sources.

It worked when I made a full compilation.

@Alexus1211
Hi Alexus1211!
Unfortunately, I lost patch file. :cry: It was too long ago.
So I remake the patch based on it. :)

-> https://github.com/codewalkerster/andro ... e1f8c34116

Please apply the patch by using the commands 'git am' at the frameworks/base.

And, please let me know the result. :)
