SDXC/SDHC support on C2

Unread post by tom81 » Sat Jun 25, 2016 5:22 pm

Hello,
simple question: Does the C2 support SDXC cards? I have a 64G Samsung Evo+ card which is not recognized at all by the C2.

Thanks

We tested 64GB and 128GB micro-SD cards and it worked. So most SDXC cards should be compatible with C2.

Looks like my sd card reader messed up the card. After erasing and re-formatting with a different card reader it works as expected.

How about we collect user reports of microSD cards somewhere?

I can confirm working:
Samsung microSD SDHC EVO+ 32GB (MB-MC32DA/EU)
Samsung microSD SDXC EVO+ 64GB (MB-MC64DA/EU)

Great idea!
This thread is sticky.

Feel free to post the working or non-working SD cards brand/model name on this thread.

Transcend 16GB UHS-I 90MB/s MLC TS16GUSDHC10U1
I think that this is a little slower than eMMC.

Transcend 16GB Class10 TS16GUSDHC10
After using emmc and above UHS-I MicroSD card, I tried this MicroSD card.
And then I feel that C2 have a freeze for a short time.

Silicon Power Elite 32GB SDHC is working great, Fast, snappy, doesn't get warm at all. Can write large files without any additional heat.
Silicon Power Elite 64GB, SDXC, is not working so well. It works, but it gets very warm. The system is getting constant stutters.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231838
G.SKILL 32GB microSDHC Flash Card Model FF-TSDHC32GA-U3
Worked fine at first, but then it had the same problems as the 64gb Silicon power card. It would get very warm, even hot to the touch. And would have constant stutters on the system.

My experience with those 2 non-working cards may just be on my end. possibly a voltage problem.
These are all using Android btw.

I have the same version with 64GB and can confirm it's working without problems. Bought 4 of them and 1 was defective.

Maybe do a sum up (edit) in the first post, so that everybody can see instantly which sd cards work and which don't!?

User "tmemkle" reported SanDisk 64GB Extreme Plus SDSQXWG-064G doesn't work on C2 while his Sandisk 32GB Ultra worked well.
This is the first microSD card has a compatibility issue with C2. :(

Hmmm... I own a very similar model, but as 32GB version.

And it works flawlessly.

Perhaps tmemkle does have problems with the card reader / formatting? Perhaps not every card reader can handle such a UHS-I U3 card.

Extreme and Extreme Plus is not the same card, it has a different controller I imagine.

I seem to be having a problem with this card: SanDisk Extreme 32GB microSDHC UHS-I Card with Adapter (SDSQXVF-032G-GN6MA)

http://a.co/6CAhGco

I've tried both Android and Ubuntu images from the Odroid site, and things fail after a few reboots every time. I'm going to use another 32 GB Sandisk Ultra to be sure I don't have a hardware problem, but from what I've been reading on this forum, it's probably the card with a new standard.

I guess I'll save it for the camera. :) It's a good thing these cards are pretty cheap now!

We found one of SanDisk 32GB Ultra microSDHC UHS-I card has a problem during system reboot.

(Not detect SD card, keep searching it)
Please note that there is a difference with other Model of the same product even though features are same.
For example,
we have another model, "SDSQUNC-032G-GN6MA"
and there is no problem related to " system reboot".

Speaking of micro SD cards. Is it possible to boot from EMMC and use a micro SD for extra storage?

Yes.
But you have to make they have different UUIDs.
