This image is lovely - fast and light :)

Lots of space on an 8gb emmc, cheers!

I noticed that in XBMC, when I select the NFS as a source nothing happens.

Is there a quick little fix I can run to get the option?

I have an older Wheezy running on my U3 I downloaded a few months ago from here. Its running my email server. I was wondering, is there a way to upgrade without having to rebuild my email box again?

Or at least update the source.list so that it gets security updates?

I don't think you have a reason to upgrade.
Just make sure you have the wheezy updates from debian and use the normal debian upgrades.
The key differences with the odroid wheezy is that the kernel probably is newer, and the firmware is newer. I assume gles is also working, but that is something you don't need on an e-mail server ;-).

Hi,
I did a fresh install of wheezy using the link given on first post.

I am not able to get to the virtual console using SHIFT+ALT+Fn key... :-(

Do you know how to solve this?
Thx

It appears the latest image does not have the following folders in the default $PATH (as typically expected):
Code: Select all
/usr/local/sbin
/usr/sbin
/sbin

As a result we can't directly run standard utils like ifconfig etc., even though they are present.

Could these pl. be added to the default $PATH defined in the next image.
They are present in say the, lubuntu 14.04LTS image for U3.

I was logging in as "odroid" user in both cases - wheezy & lubuntu - those folders were directly visible via $PATH on lubuntu but not wheezy.

all sbin folders are for SUPER USER only they require root privileges that's why they are NOT in the path variable of a normal user but only in the path of the root user, or at least that's how it SHOULD be. Could be that Ubuntu is messing with that, but that's not the "normal" way to do it.

Hi Mdrjr,

Thanks for this Debian version :).

I just found this: http://builder.mdrjr.net/kernel-3.8/00-LATEST/ and was wondering how hard/long it was to put the 3.8.13.28 kernel instead of the (default) 3.8.13.27 inside?

I sought instructions on this forum but didn't find anything (probably my mistake).

Thanks

Regards,
Vincent.

there is an tool called odroid-utility which is handling updates for kernel. It's provided by mdrjr.. it takes only a few seconds to update the kernel with that.
I have created a .deb repository where you can install and update, or even remove kernels via apt-get.

Building a kernel takes only a couple of minutes.. and there is no such thing as a "default" kernel.. you just happen to download a version of the image with 3.8.13.27 installed... that's all.. a couple months earlier you would have got a 3.8.13.8 or something with the same image.

Hi Meveric,

I didn't know for odroid-utility, my mistake. Thank you :)!
I know how to build a kernel (with the cross toolchain, etc), and am even using the github repo to build my modules. The thing is, I was not sure how to change the kernel. It seems like it's all about copying zImage and /lib/.../modules. Sorry for polluting this thread!

Thanks again.

Hi,

I am new on the Odroid U3 and Linux and installed this image. I am able to access the Odroid via SSH.
I would be interested to know, whether this image is automatically using the full amount of existing space on the emmc or whether I have to extend it.
If I have to extend it, how could I do this ?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Thanks for your fast feedback. I forgot the '.sh' before.

Is it advisable to do a apt-get update/apt-get upgrade ?

with smcroute -d i get the following

Code: Select all
root@odroid-wheezy:~# smcroute -d
INIT: MC-Router IPv4 API already in use; Errno(98): Address already in use
INIT: MC-Router IPv6 API already in use; Errno(98): Address already in use
INIT: Kernel does not support multicast routing; Errno(92): Protocol not available

how can i add support of kernel multicast

I've run into a problem:
I dd'ed the image onto a µSD card, and to verify, dd'ed the card back to an image - the md5sum is identical to the original image, thus I assume the image was written correctly.

Now, plugging the card into the odroid-u3, I power it up and exactly nothing happens.
Nothing beside the red power-LED going on.

To make sure, I also tried OpenSUSE and the Lubuntu releases, and all behave exactly the same.
The µSD card is in perfect working order, as I can use it flawlessly as a mass storage in my digital camera or my smartphone after reformatting to FAT.

Thus: Is there some information I missed regarding images and their usability from microSD cards?
In particular I rely on Debian, as I use it for both Desktop as well as Server usage.

Testing of the Odroid takes place at an ESD-safe workplace.

Hello. I would like to compile custom kernel and initrd on your image. Can you guide me a litle bit through this please? I will start with your kernel configuration /proc/config.gz and add some more options. Where can I find sources for this version of kernel?
