Difference between EMMC android and EMMC Linux?

Post by QingyaZhao »

Hi,

I plan to develop a customize Android app with Android Studio and then have it running on the Odroid M1.
For example, if I build an Android app that requires the BLE module on the Android device to connect to other devices by BLE (like odroid would receiving data from other devices).

I see that there are two emmc available:
Linux: https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/16gb-em ... -m1-linux/
Android: https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/8gb-emm ... 1-android/

Could you please let me know what's the difference between this two versions and which one should fit for my case?
Any help is much appreciated!

Best,
QZ

Hi,

eMMC modules are physically the same (aside of their data capacity of course), the difference between Linux and Android eMMCs is their content when they are shipped.
This is to help less experienced users to get started with a system of their choice.
You can write any image on eMMC yourself, so don't worry about this at all.

Since you're a developer, you may reflash your eMMC quite often. For that I'd recommend getting a USB eMMC writer as well:
https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/usb3-0- ... le-writer/
It is not strictly necessary, but may make your life much easier.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I need to reflash it multiple times. Could you please let me know where can I find the image for Linux and Android?
