A new affordable display device

We've quietly started selling a new display device ODROID-Vu7C which is mainly designed for ODROID-C4.
It has a wide-viewing-angle IPS grade 1024x600 24bit RGB TFT LCD with a capacitive touchscreen.
You can use it with ODROID-N2 series with an extra HDMI cable.

Note that you have to update the uboot and kernel to use this display.
Otherwise, the screen will be just dark black.
Our updated uboot has a new function to initialize the HDMI-to-RGB converter IC via I2C interface on the 40pin GPIO.

@tobetter's upstream Ubuntu/Debian images will be supporting this new display soon probably.
We will also send some free samples to 3rd party OS developers for wider compatibility.

This display can't work with XU4/C1/C2 series.

Nice product, I think the PCB design gives some good options for mounting into a case or panel, I also like that it uses the 40pin and has no HDMI or power cables coming out the side

Very nice, the C4 is the perfect device to build a CarPC and this display being IPS is better suited.

So I assume it's not plug and play and requires the display to be present on power up?
Not that it's a big problem, but might be worth mentioning on Wiki.

It is true if you use an old OS images.

Is it possible to programmatically turn on/off the display?
So power-save display off is default, and when something needs to be displayed a program can turn it on? Then go back to sleep when done.
Console application is sufficient.

I need upstream kernel+uboot for netboot to work (see other thread).
Does that mean this display does NOT work with upstream uboot?

Since you can control the brightness via pwm, I guess you can set pwm to 0 and turn off the backlight.

This product helps expand the display possibilities, one can never have too many display choices in the embedded world. It’s symmetrical mount and I2C touchscreen interface will help with tighter integration and should allow for smaller bezels. Looking forward to working with it.

Note, a mistake in the design I found is that the holes for USB OTG port and DC adapter are wrongly positioned, but not able to figure out where the mistake is.

i can wire my hi-fi one board underneath that unit and get stereo out and into my pre amp what i would like to know is if the spi bus can now be used to add a peteiboot chipset since the modded usb hub chip set on the c-4 which i ordered last week..i still have my plug and play ram unit from the n-1 days,,,how goes it guys,,,,..

EDIT sozz thinking vu7 this unit is much better ..better mounting..option`s...ill just extend the 7 pim headder ti fit my hi-fi board under it at some time i get timr and money..etc..etc..been doing other forum `s around the globe..

The SPI bus on GPIO 40 pin header won't help you booting from SPI flash memory unfortunately, bootrom in SoC does not access it.
