Hi.
I installed your ATV rom selfinstall-odroidn2-lineage-18.1_alpha-0.1_20210929.ATV.img on odroid N2.

It works great.
However, I installed the Gboard app, but the on-screen keyboard doesn't appear.

Only the leanback keyboard appears on-screen.

I hope you can fix this

I'm a Korean speaker, so I need to be able to use the Gboard app.

Thank you very much. Good luck.

I installed the atv image on odroid n2+. The device is connected with wired ethernet and does report it IP address. However, regardless of what I try, I am getting an error message "Can't connect right now" and the options to "try again" or "open network settings". How do I set it up such that it will use the wired ethernet?

Hey, is anyone able to get game controllers working on this build? I couldn't for the life of me get a gamepad to work in actual gaming apps/emulators. I read apparently this is an Android 11 thing that's been going on for a while now. I did get them working for a minute by fiddling with accessibility settings, but once I changed some stuff with taksrr it all went south again. I went down to 17.1, which is working great, except now my controller can't control the power dialog I have set up to trigger when I long press the home button on my gamepads... Any ideas? I really appreciate all the work on the builds though!

Which controller you use? Please post USB vid/pid.
Output of command

Code: Select all

getevent -lp
Also check are you see events when hit some keys on your controller via

Code: Select all

getevent -l
command.

It doesn't matter which controller I use. I have used several nintendo switch knockoffs as well as my steelseries stratus duo. None of them work in games/emulators on 18.1, only for UI navigation. However they all work on 17.1. I will flash back to 18.1 in a minute and post the output for you. Thanks for the prompt reply!

Well, after some quick testing, it appears that it is the accessibility features that are causing the problem. Controllers work fine until I enable accessibility features for Button Mapper to remap the home button, so I will have to do without that I suppose. Do you know of a button mapping app that is actually compatible and won't cause issues with gamepads? Reason being is that I like to have the controller home button go back to the launcher no matter what I am doing, and have a long press pop up the power dialog. As it is a gamepad doesn't have a working "home" button unless one is mapped to that in ATV.

Six pack coming your way, btw!

Thanks, every input device on android can have own keylayout configuration.
You can see some preinstalled keylayout files in /system/usr/keylayout/ or /vendor/usr/keylayout/ folder.
So you can create one for your controller and put to this folder.

In next builds i will try to add /odm/usr/keylayout folder to scan locations so custom layouts will keep across updates.

So what comes next?) Almost finished works on a few interesting features.

First one is expanding ueventd for modalias handling. In other words Android now can automatically load kernel modules when device connected or detected at boot.

Next one is a kmod integration to Android. Kmod is better kernel module handling software than AOSP uses. You can define module load options, blacklist them. Also you can define triggers on module load or remove (e.g. start usb-modewsitch when modem detected). I move all this config files to our fat partition which is not wiping across updates and can be accessible from any other OS.
In case of we now have kmod. modprobe and better kernel module handling I include in build a lot of DVB/Media drivers which only loads when corresponding hardware detected.
Other drivers i will include by request.
Tvheadend and according software updated to latest ones.

Next one is Selinux( :? ) , i fixed all Selinux denials and rules, so you can set Selinux to Enforcing mode and make Android more secure.

I release new version soon, just after make several Selinux tests.

Is that module handling fully custom or do some other ROMs use it? I ask as I've never seen it before.

Either way it sounds awesome!

Linux handle device/modules via udev and kmod. Not sure about other ROMs.

Thanks for the tip. That will make it easy. Otherwise I have to root and add in something to remap the home button. I was wondering, would it be possible for you to either build the spi_s3c64xx kernel module, or leave me a tip on how to do that? I've built kernel modules for linux on my machine, but have never messed around with doing it for android before. I assume its roughly the same, I just need to set up the proper build environment. I have an N2+ going into an OGST case so I would like to make use of the TFT screen up front with some scripts when games are launched from Pegasus front end. Thanks again.

It is my understanding that that is the kernel module that is used to control the driver for the TFT display in the OGST XU4 case, as per https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/soft ... onsole_kit

In your build of android for the XU4 boards you have an OGST tft enable/disable function in the Odroid settings app, as well as the kernel module (spi_s364xx) built and included for the tft screen. Unless I am off track here? I'll ask on the project forum. Thanks though.

It's not as simple as dropping the module source into the kernel tree and it working, it has dependencies on Samsung specific code and hardware which will not be available for the Amlogic kernel or device.

Gotcha, yah I didn't realize that the Odroid XU4 was a Samsung SoC based device. I was thinking that the sc364xx driver was for the driver module for the TFT screen. Thanks.

Hallo voodik,

nice work!
I want to connect a MCP2515 CANBus Modul to the Odroid with your ROM.
Can you tell me if SocketCan is included in the kernel?
Or where can I check if it is activated?

Thank you.

I have a couple questions,

How to i install the update posted as of january 23?

When i try to flash the file to my emmc balenaEtcher says its not a bootable image.

When trying the latest version of the Selfinstall ATV Images (18.01 alpha 0.1 9/21/2021) it works great except it has no external storage support, I read that i need to install magisk to fix this but how to i get the apk onto the emmc without external storage support?

I tried downloading the apk through a web browser but all the versions on the play store don't support downloads, I also tried to just copy the file manually to the emmc but windows cant read ext4.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

For update: Apps > Odroid Settings > Update > From online package.

For external storage: just checked with single partition FAT/exFAT USB drive, everything works. Kodi, VLC and some file managers from Play Store can access to files.

Lineage-19.0 still in development stage by Lineage team, no any official device supported. So when lineage release first nightly/stable version for any device i release it for N2/C4.

The problem i have is that when i plug my flash drive(s) in they just say they are safely ejected. (Sandisk 64gb / Sandisk 32gb)

The main issue I'm encountering is the external permissions issues with certain apps (Retroarch, Redream, Mupen64 plus fz) and them not being able to see my sd card or flash drives.

After some reading i now know that its a per app issue.

Hey,

after a lot of frustration over the weekend, I am still unable to make it work. :(

I did the following steps:
- I enabled SPDIF output over the ODROID settings app in Android
- I made sure the sound clip I was using had actual audio
- I restarted the device
- I measured the voltage on the pin 7 (supposed to be SPDIF), no output, no sound

Am I missing something?

Is it works on Official Android image ? I don't have a any SPDIF device so i can't make tests.

Try on Pin 2 of J7. This is the default output. I think to use Pin 7 is a change of devicetree necessary.

Ah thanks, I will try that on the weekend...

Is it true that the J7 directly connects to the CPU, so when I connect the COAX SPDIF cable to a speaker it could damage the CPU due to the 75 Ohm impedance?

@nickldio,
We've tested only SPDIF Toslink compatible optical output.
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/appli ... ector/7pin
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c4/appli ... ctor/spdif

You might need a transformer isolation circuit or similar one for COAX output since the pin is directly connected to the CPU as you suspected.

As you suggested I tried my luck with optical SPDIF and bought these:

https://www.tme.eu/en/details/fcr684205 ... cr684205t/

I connected the J7 pins to the connector as follows;

pin 1 to GND
pin 2 to VIN
pin 3 to VCC

The internal LED lights up, but I still don't get sound. I have double checked that the cable and receiver are ok.
After that I measured the voltage on pin 2 of J7 to GND and it says 5V, shouldn't the SPDIF data line jump between 0V and +0.5V? Or is this working as intended and I need to use a voltage divider on pin 2
to get the desired input voltage of 0.6V max for the sender-connector?
In the few other forum posts I have found on this subject people managed to make it work by just connecting it as I did.

Thanks

For external storage: just checked with single partition FAT/exFAT USB drive, everything works. Kodi, VLC and some file managers from Play Store can access to files.
What file managers? I tried X-Plore which works perfect on any Android version I tried till this version. I feel pretty stupid to try to use an OS that does not recognise any of my Hard Disks, SSDs and any of my several USB thumb drives, on a device with FOUR USB 3.0 ports!
All I get, every time I connect any disk/thumb drive (formatted to NTFS, Fat and Fat32) is - it "got successfully ejected" and no app (Kodi among them) I tried can access them.
Is there any way to get my drives recognised, or this OS is just a waste of my time since as it is it's of no use to me?

Did you change the audio output path to "SPDIF" in ODROID Settings app?
