Odroid-C2 eMMC Linux 32GB not recognized

Post by thierry51 »

Hello
I bought the following items from the "Diigiit Robotics Europe" site:
- Odroid-C2 eMMC module - OS: Linux 32GB
- Hardkernel eMMC USB3.0 adapter module
On my Jeedom smart linux system, I would like to expand the memory from 8gb to 32gb.
I put the 32gb emmc on the usb adapter and plug into a usb port on my system but doing an "fdisk –l" emmc is not recognized.
See the photo attached.

I tried on another linux system and the emmc is not recognized either.
There is a problem with these items, I would like to return them, I need to get your return product notice from your technical team.

Thank you for your reply

Let's check one by one.

Can you find the eMMC Writer device from lsusb command output?
ID 05e3:0749 Genesys Logic, Inc.

Have you tried connecting it to a USB 2.0 port instead of USB 3.0?

Also try connecting it to a Windows PC or Linux PC to narrow down root causes.

The PCB color of the emmc looks black, correct? If so, it's not supported by the emmc writer... You'll need to use the sd-emmc adapter instead (or write it while connected to the board).

The PCB color of the emmc is a red square.
I tried to put it on a USB 2 port: it's the same thing.
Yes, I also tried to put it on a windows pc and a linux pc and at no time the emmc is detected.
Thank you

Show us a closeup picture of the emmc. I suspect it's black. See here: https://wiki.odroid.com/accessory/emmc/ ... _2016_2019

The black ones aren't compatible with the usb reader.

Indeed, I have to realize that it is a black PCB.
On the site "Diigiit Robotics Europe" the emmc is presented in photo with orange PCB, in the text it is indicated that it is a black PCB but the photo invites an error.

Thank you for your interventions

You should be able to flash it directly in the C2, without the sd-emmc adapter, if you can't get hold of one, but the instructions are more complicated.
