SmartPower3 EU VAT

Post by joerg »

I would like to buy one, but can I buy it with VAT for EU included?
The reason is I had too much trouble with DHL, FEDEX or the German customs by paying the VAT.
On Aliexpress there is the possibility to pay it directly, as they changed it with the renovation of VAT in EU.
I can't find it at Pollin or Reichelt in Germany.

I hope Pollin picks it up. Though in the past I wasn't able to buy from them and ship it to Romania because of electronic waste laws.

No reseller in Poland has Smart Power 3 either.

Even if HK would handle the VAT thing on their side, you'd still need to deal with the import tax at the customs.
Like I described in off topic thread, I don't know about DHL in other countries, but here we just get notified how much, we pay online and get parcel as usual.

I did have a lot of trouble with DHL some 10 years ago when I bought 26kg worth of motorcycle parts to my GN250. The sender, which was some shady business that bought stuff from taobao on your behalf, has issued a bogus invoice where nothing was right - not the type of parts, count or price. Local DHL customs office demanded a "proper invoice" and charged me 100 PLN for every day of delay. The Chinese guys were not helpful at all and responded only at night, of course.
I ended up writing an honest invoice myself in Excel. At least I managed to "validate" it by making the Chinese guys at least put a stamp on it and send it back. Then I got my parcel and was charged some outrageous amount of money, don't want to remember the details.
That was no coincidence that after that I booked my first visit at the cardiologists office.

So, I think the key is a proper paperwork on HK side. We got a big parcel today and everything was very smooth.

Grrr... Wanted to order one directly from HardKernel, and also grab a few things on their discount list, only to remember why I almost never ordered directly from them. Shipping cost to Romania is ~62$, shipping anywhere else in EU is 32$. For a 75$ order before taxes/VAT, shipping is a killer. I'll have to wait either until I can get it from inside the EU, or to save up for a bigger order to justify costs...

No need to buy a power supply, found one old HP 19V notebook power supply that seems to work.

If you want to reuse an old power adapter check the plug.
For 12V generally 5.5/2.1 is used, for 19V 5.5/2.5!
The smart power uses the same 5.5/2.1 like the Odroid C4/N2.

You might cut the existing plug from the notebook adapter and use one of the included plugs in the package.

My old HP power adapter is doing his job. I am surprised, as this thing was many years without power :o .
Now I am happy with my new SmartPower3.
