[SOLVED] USB serial UART kit and sending commands to ODROID board?

Post by gnome_shell »

Hi all,

I am using that UART kit in conjunction with GNU/Linux terminal called "minicom". In minicom I configured everything as explained in the How-To, however I cannot enter anything and send to the ODROID-HC2 board. I only can see log output of my ODROID-HC2 board. For example: after the boot process in the login prompt I am not able to enter my password to login. Is this not possible at all, is the interface only for "viewing" ? I thought and hoped I can use it as a real console and also entering commands.

If possible, please tell me how to do this. Thank you.

EDIT: found out and SOLVED :) I used the serial settings "hardware flow control = on" and "software flow control = off". After I cross-changed the settings to "HW flow control=Off" and "SW flow control=On" it worked like a charm. Now I can send commands to the board and the console behaves as expected.

Normally, we had disabled software and hardware both flow control options.

Code: Select all

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
A - Serial Device : /dev/ttyUSB0
B - Lockfile Location : /var/lock
C - Callin Program :
D - Callout Program :
E - Bps/Par/Bits : 115200 8N1
F - Hardware Flow Control : No
G - Software Flow Control : No

   Change which setting?

Thanks for providing that information. I have disabled now both HW and SW flow control. Works fine
