HomeAssitant Blue (Odroid N2+) - none of USB ports are working

Post by Liisi »

It seems none of my USB ports are working.
It's been a while since the purchase and I was running Home Assistant OS without any issue until I tried to use USB stick to copy some files into device directly and I could not understand why device can't see my stick.
Then I realised LED on the stick is OFF.

Device came preassembled with software preinstalled - I have never opened the case so If static killed something - that happened at HardKernel assembly line. :D
I know it is out of very short warranty by now. So I can only blame myself for not testing EVERYTHING when I received it. :D
But this is my 3rd Odroid N2 device and I didn't have any issues with the other two so I was too relaxed. :)

Is there anything I can do to fix it and is there anything you can help me with?

So far I tried another power supply from another working N2 - didn't make any difference.
I tried to use keyboard plugged into USB - not working.

As a workaround, see if the usb-otg port works with a otg adapter.
See if this helps to revive your dead usb controller (though it was for older revisions): https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/hardware/repairs

Thanks.
Ordered OTG cable.
Thank you for the link - will open it up and inspect the board.

My board seems to be different there.
I think mine is 2020 version.
Nothing on the board looks burned or damaged.
Is there any way to troubleshoot the issue?

Yes, looks like a newer revision. Let's see what odroid suggests.

Production batch number 2102 had that resistor configuration on the USB vbus path.

Try installing this Ubuntu OS image to a spare SD card.
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/os_im ... u/20210830
Then, boot from the SD card and check "lsusb" and "lsusb -t" outputs to see the HW USB block status.

Thank you for the test.
According to the outputs, the USB 3.0 hub controller IC seemed to be damaged by uncertain reasons.

Please contact "odroid at hardkernel dot com" with a URL of this thread.
They will help your RMA process if you purchased the board from our web-store directly.
Or, contact your local distributor/reseller. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
