Some H2+ questions

Post by Nightingale »

Hi!

Please, I have some doubts.

1) to power it from a computer PSU, just grab a 12V line, cut the cable, attach the connector used by the Odroid and go? (has that connector any special name or code to find about it and purchase?) And the same for the power switch of the case, right? Cut, attach to the switch cable...

Would be nice to have available to purchase something to ease this part. Maybe a board with all connectors (data, switch, PSU, and Odroid power plug) so no wiring and holding is needed.

2) when will be h2+ available again to purchase at co.uk?

3) can I use SATA port multipliers with it?

I am thinking about using a big computer case with a ton of HDD slots to build a NAS and still have enough free space to add a farm to run a game server. I am analyzing the viability, monetary costs, etc.

Thanks!

So, for 1):

Grab this:
https://www.amazon.es/GELRHONR-Cable-ex ... 09B95DZG7/
cut +12v and ground for odroid power
cut +3.3v and PS-ON (green) for the switch.

Using something like this so to reuse the case switch: https://www.amazon.es/InduSKY-Conectore ... 0953NKP19/

OK! :-)

Wait, the case switch is not a switch but a button. Will be there any problems with this so I need to change it to a switch? Depends on the PSU??

EDITED:
For the PSU to be turned on, PS_ON has been to be keep down. So I suppose that by default the PSU will be keep shut on and I could power on/off the system just using the PSU back switch (when available). EDITED2: maybe by default does not power on, so you have to connect PS_ON to ground or 0.

If I need a better-placed switch, then it is when you need to wire a new switch.

Another option... do a circuit so to recycle the PSU button... will it be there something already done? hmmm

or maybe use a micro arduino... they are pretty cheap.
This: https://www.amazon.es/AZDelivery-Nano-V ... 01MS7DUEM/
And this: https://www.amazon.es/AZDelivery-Adapta ... 08T1ZXS7K/
would make things easier for a noob as me!

You need to manage PS_ON (Green) of ATX power to 0V in order to turn on and off with PSU back switch.
Also you have to change the BIOS to turn on H2+ so that it can boot up as soon as DC input is supplied. Otherwise, you have to touch power on switch on H2+ after ATX power is supplied.

TY!!!

now I will wait for the card to be available...

BTW, does anyone knows if you can use satas multiplier with odroid h2+?

I think I have read someone, do not remember where, talking about it, but I think it was another odroid model.

By the way, please, how do you call those cilinders you use as legs for the boards, or to pile up several boards, screwed. Separators?

"PCB support" / "PCB standoff" / "PCB spacer"
