Having grown up as a sort of adrenaline junkie rib injuries are nothing new. A little over a year ago I swear I tore the meat off one on my side, worst rib pain I've ever had. A couple days ago I bumped the same spot and it hurts just as bad as last year.

A fractured rib should have fused by now... You should get an xray to troubleshoot further...

Yeah, that's what's odd. I did the usual last year, ace bandage, 6-8 weeks (took more like 10 to feel better) and it's been fine since.
Then Wednesday I remember bumping it on something and the following morning it was excruciating.

You should have that looked at at your next revision... When I fell off a chair a couple of months ago (I was an idiot, using a chair with wheels to reach somd lego on top of a drawer), my wife sent me to get an examination (luckly they didn't examine my head :D). At least you know what the problem is instead of going in blind...

4 hours in windows to get some simple software loaded. I can't believe my fist didn't find it's way through the monitor.
I can't possibly accurately describe, even with many 4 letter words my dislike for windows.

Just bought a new (2021 built) house near Houston, Texas. Decided to move here for the weather (seriously). A "major disaster" winter storm here is like a normal winter's day in Colorado. Gas is a lot cheaper here too. Was $2.29/gal at the New Caney Walmart just a few days ago. Paid $3.09 in Pueblo, Colorado a day earlier. Funny how the gas companies never get accused of "gouging" though, just the guy selling homemade hand sanitizer on a street corner. Clearly he's the problem! ๐Ÿค‘

I've been thinking about coming down that way too. Winters in the snow belt along the great lakes can be brutal. We don't get the hail like Colorado though.

I'm getting old... used to love winter, was even a member of the National Ski Patrol in my youth. Now snow just chills me to my bones. And have you seen real estate prices in Florida? $150,000 gets you a mobile home in a trailer park, with lot rent. I'm sure that's Trump's fault somehow. ๐Ÿ™„ Anywho, so far Texas has been great. I hear there's an active LUG in Houston too. Will have to check that out once I get settled in.

Out of curiosity - what are your houses mainly built of? Concrete/bricks or drywall? I'm asking because most US-based diy videos show drywall while here, in eastern europe we only get reinforced concrete, which is a joy to remodel once it's set in...

Great lakes region is typically wood, siding ,drywall, asphalt shingles with a basement and attic. Older homes are often plaster walls- batt & lathe. There are a number of brick houses too.
Things vary across the country. I've seen slate shingles further west.

All the new houses I looked at were "concrete slab foundation" with brick facades. That seems to be a popular construction method in warmer climates. I ended up going with Rausch Coleman as the builder mainly because I liked the floorplan and optional 9' ceilings. I lived in a $1000/month closet in San Francisco so really wanted a wide-open space.

I noticed holes inbetween bricks at the base of my house and was going to buy mortar to fill them in (to keep pests out) when I was informed that they're "weep holes". Apparently when your "brick house" is just one layer of brick veneer, you need these holes for drainage and air circulation. So now I'm paying the bug guy $99 every three months to spray in all the stoopid little holes.

Learned me sumptin' new.

I was using my Stanley Sharptooth hand saw to cut up some tree branches. The thing is so sharp primitive cultures would sing songs about it. I bumped my thumb with it receiving just the tiniest cut, and it's been bleeding for 2 hours.

Aw man, this @#$% site did it to me again. Logged in, spent five minutes typing, clicked submit, got another login, logged in again, everything I typed is gone. I CANT STAND IT ANYMORE. Make "KEEP ME LOGGED IN" the default or SOMETHING.

Anywho, I was going to tell you about using steel wool or Scotchbrit to fill the holes cheaply, how my cats take care of larger pests and about the $14,000 in damage my new 2021 Kona suffered thismonth but its just too much of a pain in the butt to post here.

If you are using Android there is an app called Type Machine which can record everything you type and in what app, it has security features and can be only enabled for specific applications. I've been using it for years and it's saved me from pulling my hair out so many times.

I think most of us wrote that in their profiles, or intentionally kept it to themselves.

But generally speaking, I see that majority of active users are from Europe or USA, and a bunch of Odroid employees from Korea. I bet there are far more Koreans in the dedicated subforum.
Oh, yes, I recall someone from Malaysia as well.

Pretty nervous today, I'm going to apply for a lab tech job. Not exactly a dream come true but it would get me out of what I do currently and give me time to find something better. I'm overqualified but I'm older and have been working for myself for a long time so I have next to no work history to show.

Interesting, they have no lab, no nothing but 2 salespeople in an office. This branch has only been here for a couple years and there are "rumors" about starting a lab in 3-6 months.
The salesman I spoke to had no clue there were job postings online.

I'll never have anything to do with that place's chaos. The job was weird on paper too, it looked like a lead tech position but the requirements were that of an entry level tech. The pay was at my rock bottom but I assumed there was some haggling to be had.
The person with their listed qualifications would not be suited for the described duties.

Interesting, they have no lab, no nothing but 2 salespeople in an office. This branch has only been here for a couple years and there are "rumors" about starting a lab in 3-6 months.
The salesman I spoke to had no clue there were job postings online.
I'm sorry to hear they wasted your time. Happened to me a few times, when the incompetent posts a job offer that has anything to do with the actual job.

Once I was applying to a company that designs and manufactures medical devices, pretty much dream coming true for a guy at my age back then. When I finally found "the office", a communist era warehouse building with a few other tiny companies stuck in there, and eventually had a chat with all saints in the company, I asked them "okay, but where is the manufacturing plant"? they told me "It's right there, behind that wall!" :D
I'm pretty sure none of their customers have ever seen the "headquarters" of that "company" ;)

And I ended up in space industry instead. I'm so glad I didn't get that job, despite being pretty much desperate.

Got a call back and interview today from a resume submission I made last night. Then I realized it's a staffing company. Oh well I made an appointment to see them at 3 so I guess I'll go see. You never know they might be able to get me something decent.

My Son's graduation party is Sunday. We are making the traditional picture collage to display. His Mom wanted to bring a laptop to show various video clips but he thought it was "cringy" (whatever the hell cringy means).
I solved the dispute with a VU7a and XU4. Still have to populate the board with pictures....

I'm not a member of any Aussie-centric forums but I know you are an inventive lot, some of the most amazing car mods come out of Australia.

700hp Mazda rotary engines and crazy stuff always happening to Buick 3800s. I agree completely.

I miss my RX-7, it wasn't modified much but it was a fun car to drive the hell out of. I try to keep up with what the rotary scene is up to and it's amazing what they have accomplished, especially in the last five or so years.
