Way to detect when N2 is starting. Ibeacon?

Hi!

My N2+ as no wifi or wired connection.

I'm looking for a way to detect when my N2+ is starting, with my smartphone.
I tested with bluetooth dongle, but it does not work everytime.

I thought about an ibeacon, but never used one, and don't know how it works.



With my smartphone in can use tasker or similar app to make macro when ibeacon is detected.
I thought about power on ibeacon synchronously with my N2.
Then smartphone will detect ibeacon and know that it started.

Someone already used ibeacon or similar with tasker or macrodroid app?

Alternatively you could use something like HardKernel's SmartPower or a Sonoff Pow to measure the power consumption of your Odroid board. But both require wifi for communication (SmartPower can work as an AP).

I will use same switch for DC power. Just replace battery of ibeacon with DC adapter.

Yes it's for the car.
I can use 4g dongle, but need to pay for another sim card.
Wifi AP works perfectly, i just need to manually activate it everytime.

Yes, I understand. I use a sim card with 5€ monthly. It's not so much and enough data for navigation and some extra.
But let me see, if I can find a solution...

For a car, my suggestion won't work... An alternative might be to have the wifi dongle on the N2 set to AP/tethering mode.
You could use Tasker on your phone to start (and remain in) tethering mode when it's in range of your car. The same automation, running on the N2 can put its wifi in client mode so it connects to your phone.

@mad_ady, I think he want to do it nearly this way. But on the N2 only WiFi must be switched on, then it connects automatically to the AP of the smartphone. The AP of the smartphone he want to start with energizing the beacon.
BTW. I tried to add Bluetooth functionality to my app, but I can't find a way to get rid of a dialog that pops up to allow the connection to my smartphone. As I have never dealed with bluetooth and it costs too much my time, I gave up ...

Thanks you for your suggestion, i already tried this, tasker start N2 AP at start-up, and when tasker app of smartphone detect the N2 AP, then it launches the smartphone AP.
But sometime it works, sometime it doesn't, or few minutes after...

It's not as stable as i need

And it works perfectly. Smartphone Macrodroid app detects beacon when power on and off.
Just long delay when power off, i need to check if there is battery inside.
