I install 4.0 from scratch and I keep getting a notification that there is an update available. I'm 99% sure I downloaded the bug fix download.

When I try to do it the standard way, it fails on the update. I went into "Danger Zone" and did a force update, it failed a few times saying the Checksum failed, but finally after a few attempts it appears to have updated the system. However I still get a notification about 10-20 seconds after system boots telling me there is an update which automatically fails.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

It may be fiddly. I have two dongles; it works great with one but doesn't work with the other. I'm using one of those Bluetooth/Wifi dongles.

The only issue I'm having is that I have some PSX games that are cue/bin with separate bins for each music track and it was showing me as if each one of those games was 10+ games, depending on the number of bin files. So I placed them into cdmage to turn them into a cue with a single bin each and after replacing the files, it still displays them as many entries instead of just one game. I've updated the game list, restarted emulation station, turned it off and on and nothing. It still displays each one of those fixed titles as if it had multiple bin files.
It was the USB Dongle. I purchased another one and it works perfectly now.

Where do I put the saves (.srm) going from 3.6 to 4.0?

I’ve put .state files in EEROM/savestates/console/game.state and I can confirm that those work.

But I have no idea where the .srm saves should go now. They used to be all over the place, either in the same directory as the rom or within RetroArch’s own directory.

But now nothing seems to work.
I’ve tried EEROMS/saves/console/game.srm, putting it along side the rom within the same directory and putting it in RetroArch’s OWN directory.

But no dice.

Is anyone having issues with their pico-8 folder getting deleted from the bios folder after reboot?

If I tried to transfer it both directly and with ftp, made sure the authorizations matches the rest. I works fine at first but it seems to just leave whenever it wants.

I have an old saving file of final fantasy IX for PSX (ffIX.sav). Where do I have to place it to continue with it?

@shanti with PSX emulator PCSX Rearmed when I start a game, buttons are not working, but I can enter RetroArch menu with Select and X, but if I exit emulator and start the same game again it will work. I can press all the buttons and the emulator will work. I am running v4.1 test, but the same happened on v4.0. So basically odroid go buttons will work in emulator every second time I start it, but I can always open RetroArch menu or issue reset commad or whatever directly related to Retroarch functionality.

Does anyone else have similar issue?

Found a workaround in the RetroArch menu Controls I disable all other ports except Port 1 and save this as a Core Remap File. So each next restart it is going to work.

Maybe @shanti this could help you narrow down why every second time gamepad is not working on OGA BE, so the difference I found when it is working in emuelec.log I see port messages like:

Code: Select all

[libretro INFO] RGB565 supported, using it
[INFO] [udev]: Pad #0 (/dev/input/event2) supports 0 force feedback effects.
[libretro INFO] port: 1 device: standard

In the case when it is not working then the port messages in emuelec.log look like:

When the gamepad is not working in some games like Batman Forever it will show you message that you first need to connect controller and then press X to proceed, on the next restart it will not show you this message it will work fine and so on.

I just have a question before I invest the time to upgrade from 3.9 to 4.0 on my ODROID Go Advance: will 4.0 support bluetooth audio? I never understood people that want to use a separate controller on a tiny screen, but bluetooth audio makes all the sense in the world to me. Is that working in 4.0 or has it always been and I just haven't figured it out?

If it doesn't work, can that be on the to-do list? Emuelec is great, but it's the one thing that's a bit annoying to me.

I appreciate all the work that has gone in to it and realize I'm begging for something that doesn't need to be done, but I think it would be fantastic if it were done.

Hello all, I have an OGS with emuelec 4.0, and tbh this is my first odroid unit. I've had it about 2 weeks now and for the first few days the battery icon was seemingly pretty accurate. However late last week it dropped to 8% and even after being on various chargers, it never showed 100% again. Highest it's gone to is like 15%. I'm working on trying to run it down entirely to see as I saw other OG devices have had notable battery inaccuracy issues. Is this something that is happening here?

You probable needed to do full charge-discharge cycles a couple of time to make the battery gauge more accurate.

Hello, I have an odroid go advance 1.1 with emuelec 4.0
But I found that I can't connect any wifi network around me
On the network interface it always says not connected, but I can see wifi icon in the upper right corner of the screen
And in that case I can find a connection on my computer and watch TV online with m3u8 files but I can't update system or download anything in the updates
Hope you can find a way to fix this bug, thanks

P.S:Is there any intention to add Japanese or Chinese font library? Some Chinese character will change to blocks sometimes in the system

Quick question.

Is there a way to sync my saves and states between my Odroid Go Advance BE and my PC?
Emuelec 4.1-Test.

I am ideally talking about a cloud solution, not a "get a software on my PC to sync with the Odroid via Samba whenever it is connected on the same network" solution. :D

Hey all,

I wanted to share a little experiment I did to control the mpv video player on OGS...
It's a small python script based on antimicro-nonX by mad_ady (https://github.com/mad-ady/antimicro-nonX) and controls mpv via IPC socket.
In the zip you find a slightly modified version of videoplayer.sh and input2ipc.py, both go to /emuelec/scripts folder. Make sure input2ipc.py is executable.

You should be able to use the following keys of your OGS
DPad left/right = seek -/+ 2s
DPad up/down = seek -/+ 60s
B = Pause/Play
A = Show progress
Y = Jump to start
X = Stop/Quit
TL = Vol -2
TR = Vol +2

Maybe someone else finds this useful.. 8-)

No you're not

Though, I think you could have done the same without editing the code and just piping the bytes into the socket with the echo command... It would be less efficient, true, but more versatile (have some keys mapped to other events for instance)...

No that doesn't work... you can't just echo to a socket, you need at least socat which isn't available on EmuELEC.
Another reason I had to edit your code is that the YAML python module isn't available on EmuELEC so I had to hardcode the key configuration into the scriptand while I was at it I just striped everything I didn't need.

Hello all, quick question. Does the setting 'max_swapchain_images' work on the OGS? I've tried changing it to 2, and even 1, but I didn't notice a decrease in performance. That made me think maybe it is not implemented.

It has nothing to do with the battery itself. Emuelec 4.0 doesn't read the battery right. I've charged and discharged mine a few times and it always drains too fast according to emuelec indicator and then remains at 0% for hours.

It's better -not perfect- on Batocera.

I have the feeling Emuelec is getting a bit stuck compared to other OS's. The more demanding systems (N64, Dreamcast and PSP) run way better on Batocera and other OS's.

A few things that i've found while playing with configuration options for N64 emulation :

Mupen64Plus-Next is painfully slow. So i've switched to another core : Mupen64Plus GLES2. This one is fast BUT something is terribly wrong : D-pad and analog stick will work fine with ingame menus and then, once you start to play, they both stop responding.
Step 1 : I've fixed that by creating a folder named "Mupen64Plus GLES2" here : "storage/.config/retroarch/config/remappings".
Step 2 : Then, copying this file : "/storage/.config/retroarch/config/remappings/Mupen64Plus-Next/Mupen64Plus-Next.rmp" to the newly created folder in the previous step.
Step 3 : Then renaming the copy of the file in previous step to "Mupen64Plus GLES2.rmp"

Now i can play "Diddy Kong Racing", "Wipeout64" and "F-ZERO X" or "Ridge Racer" at full speed !
In case you still experience latency and stuttering music/graphics, then goto "/storage/.config/retroarch/config/" and delete the "Mupen64Plus GLES2" folder. It will be created anew with a fresh configuration file the next time you launch the N64 emulator. This has solved the problem for me.

As for PSP emulation, this is a fact that the most resource intensive games (e.g. "Midnight Club 3 - Dub Edition") are a bit too much unless you drop some frames. But i can tell that i have around a hundred PSP games that will run just fine, most of them won't even require tweaking to play them. Mostly RPGs, Tactical RPGs, PSP Minis but also "Need for Speed -Underground Rivals" for example.

Dreamcast emulation is on the short side, say half of the games i've tried run okay and half of them are laggy...

Another problem i've bumped into is booting to "RetroArch" then quit. EmuElec will then be launched but there's no more music to be heard of inside the "EmuElec" GUI. Rebooting won't solve the issue.
And another one : Inside "RetroArch", i've tried to update controller profiles. The download went okay but since then, when i launch a game, i can't access the "RetroArch" menu by pressing "Select + X" anymore. Now, "Select" is mapped to key "III" and "Start" to key "IV". I've tried every keys combo i could, but nope ! The menu is gone into neverland... How could i fix this ?

EDIT : Fixed the problem with "Reset to original settings" inside the "Danger Zone !"...

Do you mind sharing this... or where did you get that core from?

You have to pick this core inside "EmuElec" Configuration menu : Main Menu -> Games Settings -> Per System Advanced Configuration -> Nintendo 64 -> Emulator -> LibRetro / Mupen64Plus

This is a fix i found by tinkering around. The logic behind these steps is the D-pad and the analog stick were functional inside "Mupen64Plus-Next" but this core was very slow. On the other hand, "Mupen64Plus GLES2" is emulating quite a few games at (nearly) full speed, but somehow, was lacking controller support ingame. I've just searched and found the "remapping" configuration file for "Mupen64Plus-Next", copied and renamed it accordingly for "Mupen64Plus GLES2". That's all...

Games tested and working at full speed (so far) :
- AeroGauge
- Diddy Kong Racing
- Extreme-G XG2
- Forsaken 64
- F-ZERO X
- Ridge Racer 64
- San Francisco Rush 2049 (some latency)
- Star Soldier - Vanishing Earth
- Wipeout 64

Well, i've just tried it and you're absolutely right : it can even run games that would not with Mupen64Plus !

Hi together!

Emuelec is realy a great os, but the keymappings are far from optimal.

I would like to try out some improvements like mapping the analog stick to the mouse-port in amiberry.

I wonder how to get the GCC working on the oga to compile and adapt the binaries.
I couldn't find anything about this, anybody now how to develop for emuelec?

Greetings
Johannesbehr

yes, this could be a way, but is quite complicated. I found an other approach:

There is a tool called linuxjoymap that allows mapping a joystick to a virtual mouse:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxjoymap/

Maybe it qould be a cool idea to be able to use the analog stick like a mouse?

Not only for Amiberry, could also be nice for ScumVM etc...

On 4.0 release, i get a weird issue with the volume button. If i hit either the the up or down volume it drops immediately to 5% level or to 0%/mute. I can only move the volume back to something normal in emulation station sound setting. The buttons stopped working.

(On my retroOz and my emuelec 4.0 beta images, the volume button is fine. I am going back to my beta image for now but wanted to see if anyone else had that problem. )

The thing is there are standalone n64, dreamcast and psp cores that run better than the retroarch ones. Those are on ArkOS and a few other OS's.
