I know how to get all the systems going except MAME, could anyone help me understand how to get it going?
I have a large set I got from Archive.org but I don't know what to do with them, what bios I need it where it goes, etc.

With MAME is very important that the ROM set versions match (2003 Plus, 2000). Also important is to use "non merged" ROM sets. This means every .zip file contains the collection of ROMs required for a title.

Is there any way to know the difference about which ROM goes to 2000 vs 2003? Now I see why you were so hesitant about it.crashoverride wrote:With MAME is very important that the ROM set versions match (2003 Plus, 2000). Also important is to use "non merged" ROM sets. Like with MAME 2000 I got a few games working but more that don't, I'm going to try the non-working on 2003 for now.
I got side tracked playing Mortal Kombat which oddly enough is widescreen with no distortion, it's so good.

Off topic and sorry for hijacking.
Can we play a vertical scrolling shoot em ups arcade game something like this?
I think the second analog stick can work as a main controller if we rotate the OGS in portrait direction.

I think so, when you put ROMs into the MAME 2003 directory it creates two entries in the system selection crossbar, one is for vertical oriented games.odroid wrote:Off topic and sorry for hijacking.

It's not really off topic, I'm interested in understanding how MAME works as I've never used it

Re: Reference Image Arcade Emulation (solved)
Since there is no accelerometer in the GO2/3 to detect physical orientation like a smartphone does, a method will need to be added to manually specify this. Adding a menu to RetroRun is the best solution as this would allow other features such as "disk swap". I have previously mentioned the issue blocking this is the requirement of a GUI library (which is still in development). Additionally, due to the physical placement of controls, the rotation would only be supported on GO3.
I have created an issue to track this:

I added experimental support for a "--portrait" command line option to RetroRun. Its actually rather uncomfortable to use in portrait orientation. I will include the function in the next test image for public comment.crashoverride wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 8:55 pma method will need to be added to manually specify this.
