Yes. You need an external app to make it register as a chromecast. I've tried this in the past: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... er.castappCatBabylon wrote:Hi thanks for this amazing ROM. I'm using the ATV version and it is generally running extremely well. Unfortunately, nothing seems to detect it as a Chromecast device. I have the Chromecast Built-in app installed, it is connected to the WiFi via ethernet, I have a google account fully registered.
Anyone have an idea how to resolve this?

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
Did anyone manage to use Gboard with odroid remote? For me, the virtual keyboard never shows up when moving the focus to textbox. Only a tiny bar appears at the bottom of the screen. Leanback keyboard works fine.
I have another TV which comes with Android TV, and seems that the Gboard preinstalled is the TV branch, and has way less options that the standard one (you can only select languages to add).
Is it possible that the Gboard in this image is meant for cellphones and does not work on TV, especially remote? If so, can we have the TV version in the next release?

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
Thanks - 2 issues though:
1) Cost me a reinstall rather than update to have the correct Gboard, which is fine
2) Play Store keeps prompting for updating Gboard, and when it did, it upgrades Gboard to the cellphone version, which is not ideal.
I think the Gboard in the latest image should be the latest version (which is the same as my native Android TV), so not sure why Google Play keeps prompting for updates. Tried to switch to another Google account which does not tie to a phone, but the issue persists.

I know that issue, I wrote it in the first post.
Don't know why the Play Store wants to update to the Phone version, I will investigate more, in the meantime you can disable apps auto updates in the Play Store.

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
Hi,
I have a problem with any android image I try (tested lineage 17.1, 18, and this rom).
My odroid N2 boots successfuly on android and takes some time to make the initial update. After this moment, the system restarts and displays nothing. It can be bootlopping as my TV get a signal 1080p/60 and lost it a fraction of time after that, indefinitely.
I tried 2 different SD cards, I flash them with etcher and I checked the integrity with DD, no problem with this step.
The system boots coreelec with no problem (SD and emmc).
Perhaps anyone can figures what happens?
In advance, thank you!

Please try latest official image (20201105) and see if you have the same issue.

Thanks,
Unfortunately I got the same behaviour here:
- Flashed the 20201105 image to SD with balena etcher, checked the integrity -> was ok
- First boot is ok, Android is installing an update
- Reboot comes with a black screen and get+loss the hdmi signal on a loop
Perhaps an electric issue?

Hi, I played with various Android builds, but non was able to run Google Earth and all the other apps which require GPU textures. I’m on the N2+ 4GB platform. Is this version capable of running Google Earth etc. correctly? Harry

As far as I know, yes, there are issue with Google Earth.
About others apps don't know, you have to try.

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
TL;DR: Microphone on webcam capturing noise. How do I troubleshoot after checking obvious things (webcam HW, app permissions)?
In more detail:
As I described in this project, I'm trying to make my Odroid + webcam work as home TV video conferencing system. So far, compared to all other attempts using this version (PIE-R.15) with Google Due was closest I came to perfect solution. ATV works amazing (TV remote via HDMI-CEC), video works amazing both ways, but microphone on my webcam is capturing and transmitting practically just noise. There is some indication that it might be capturing some voice but it destroys it enough that I'm not sure if it's there or I'm just thinking it's there. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? I checked obvious stuff like does HW work (it does as I tried video call from ubuntu-mate and sound was fine there, but video was not great due to lack of HW acceleration issues on X11), are app permissions set up properly (I gave access to Google Duo to every single thing listed).

@zid2000: Try to add persist.sys.useint16resampler=0 to /vendor/build.prop;
Add this line at end of build.prop;
Push it back;
Code: Select all
$ adb remount
$ adb pull /vendor/build.prop
Code: Select all
persist.sys.useint16resampler=0
Code: Select all
$ adb push build.prop /vendor/build.prop
$ adb reboot

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
@secuflag I tried that now but I'm not sure if it had any impact. I don't really know how to test microphone on ATV. I tried Google Assistant and it seems to work. But Google Duo (I'm trying to make video calls using ATV+webcam setup) is giving me "Microphone isn't working. Try closing other apps that maybe using microphone then relaunch Duo."
It looks to me now that HW and OS-wise, everything works fine and that the problem is with Google Duo app. I've raised the issue on Google Duo community forum so let's see if they will have any ideas.

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
I'm using latest ATV version on Odroid N2, and I could not launch Google Movie App even though it is installed from the beginning. I updated the Google Movie App, but showing the same problem. The Google Movie App icon is not seen at the installed App, so I have to look at it using Setting/App menu.
If I open it at the Setting/App menu, the screen is blinking once and nothing happens. How could I fix this?

Wait...I see that the version of the Petitboot is very old (20190416)
Please download this and flash ti your SD card using Etcher.
http://ppa.linuxfactory.or.kr/images/pe ... 222.img.xz
Place the boot select switch to MMC from SPI, remove MMC if attached, and replug DC adapter. The Petitboot will be updated with the latest version. Please refer to the link for the detail.

Re: ROM AOSP Android 9.0 Pie + Android-TV version
If you are planning to use the Petitboot, please flash the recover image again and do update the Petitboot from SD card. But this time, do not flash Android TV but see if the Petitboot screen appears.
When the Petitboot screen appears, following the commands.
1. Fom the command line of the Petitboot, run flash_eraseall /dev/mtd1
2. Remove SD card.
3. Place the boot select switch to SPI
4. Replug DC adapter
5. Check if the Petitboot screen appears or not.

@alaskas: I see what you mean, on the ATV version the boot label does not appear in petitboot menu.
Don't know why, I'll investigate this ASAP.
Edit: Found the issue, will be fixed on the next release.
