Wayland option after kernel update

Post by mlakis »

Hi,

I've a working image of Ubuntu on my Odroid N2+, I think it was an image from August.

I am keeping it updated by getting updates from the default repos of the image, everything works, the kernel is 5.7, I've also installed mali-bifrost-wayland-driver from the beginning and I am using Wayland on both Ubuntu and Gnome sessions.

I've tried to update to 5.8 and 5.9, by sudo apt install linux-headers-5.X.0-odroid-arm64, also the headers, but when booting 5.8 or 5.9 I can't get Wayland session. The option on the gdm3 login screen is missing and when executing echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE I get X11.

Am I missing any additional package required? Or do I need to install/flash a fresh image for the newer kernels?

Thanks

Have you read this?

Due to the kernel change, Mali Driver has to be built and especially 5.9 does.

Yes, that's normal...I think...I have the same log and does not affect the performance. :)
Looks like some of missing device tree entries are added for Panfrost.
