ODROID HC2 - No longer powering HDD

Post by Danashcroft »

Stopped working this week randomly, only had it 5 months. OMV boots up fine, solid green light and flashing blue lights, just no life from the hard drive at all.

Tried new power supply, reinstalling OMV and also plugged in external hard drive which OMV recognises instantly.

Also unplugged the drive and re connected, nothing.

Tried HDD in my PC and it powers up fine, any ideas was really pleased with my Nas up until now don't want this to ruin my odroid experience 😔

Weird - so the disk works fine in a PC, right?
Can you run these commands over ssh and paste here the output?

Code: Select all

uname -a
lsmod
blkid
lsusb -t
lsblk
dmesg | grep sd

Re: ODROID HC2 - No longer powering HDD

The USB-SATA bridge controller seems to detect well.
Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Mass Storage, Driver=uas, 5000M

Which power supplies did you use? Is it our 12V/2A PSU something like this?

Do you have a DMM to measure voltage on the SATA power rail?

If you don't have a DMM, it is really hard to find a root cause.

Anyway, if you used our official 12V/2A PSU, there must be no issue with the PSU probably.
In that case, I think some portion of the HC2 board could be damaged by uncertain electrical shock.

If you have a spare 2.5" disk around you may want to try it too, since it likely uses only the 5V component (in case there's a problem with 12V
