DietPi is an extremely lightweight Debian-based OS. It is highly optimised for minimal CPU and RAM resource usage, ensuring your Odroid always runs at its maximum potential.

Use dietpi-software to quick and easy install Ready to Run & Optimised applications for your system. DietPi will do all the necessary configurations, including starting the services.

DietPi is compatible with Odroid XU3/XU4/MC1/HC1/HC2, Odroid C1, Odroid C2, Odroid C4/HC4, Odroid N1 and Odroid N2.

Our image has been updated to ship with the current DietPi v6.34 and up-to-date APT packages. But more importantly it resolves boot issues with Odroid HC4, which is now officially supported.

Thanks for the message.
Any hints for DeitPi installation on HC4 machine from SD card will be much appreciated.
Several longtime installation attempts (1h+) with different SD cards failed.

(P.S. Network Debian installation works fine. But “global” idea is to install DietPi. Cards were burned with balenaEtcher on windows 10 machine).

Many thanks for your report. That is bad to hear. Booting from SD card is what worked with the old image, booting from SATA (and SATA detection in general) is what has been fixed with the new one. I hope that did not generally break booting from SD card somehow.

Is there any output on the screen on boot?

Thanks for your reply MichaIng.
But in fact there wasn't much to see.
Just completely black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner.
This cursor disappears later on (in about 20 to 30 minutes after boot process commence) and and only red and blue LEDs on the machine board are still on.

Ah thanks for the hint with petitboot. I wasn't aware that the board loads petitboot from the SPI automatically, if present. The alternative to pb-update should hence be to remove petitboot and let the board boot U-Boot from the FAT partition as intended. I found the notes from Armbian about it which should be the same on all distros: https://www.armbian.com/odroid-hc4/

That is something we should add to our docs (and here to OP) as kinda SBC-specific troubleshooting/steps, like USB/SD/eMMC switches in other cases and such :).
