Parameter Sheet for Japanese and US export regulations

Post by Furukawa »

Dear ODROID staff,

Thanks for the great board.
I am in Japan and got an ODROID-C2 through the US, but I have to re-export it to a foreign country.
Therefore, I need a Parameter Sheet that meets Japanese and US export regulations. (The US also regulates re-exports.)
Could you ODROID staff provide it?

I don't fully understand what is "Parameter Sheet".
We have FCC/CE/KC/RoHS regulatory certification documents for the ODROID-C2.
You can access them via our WiKi pages.
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c2/hardw ... _documents
The FCC certification was enough when we exported the ODROID boards to US from Korea.

Anyway, we don't have any your country specific certification like VCCI, TELEC, JATE......

Thank you for your quick response.

Unlike certification, "Parameter Sheet" contains the following information for each country's export regulations;
1. which items are applicable (to be judged)
2. the results of the judgment on whether or not a product is a regulated item

For example, it may fall under Article 7 (i) of one of Japan's export regulations, the "Ministerial Order Specifying Goods and Technologies Pursuant to the Provisions of the Appended Table 1 of the Export Trade Control Order and the Appended Table of the Foreign Exchange Order".

Since these type of single board computers couldn't be used for making a nuclear rocket weapon, there should be no restriction.
I have no idea who will make the judgement fairly/logically.
Korea, US, or Japan government or related association? :?:
Sorry for the very basic/noob question.
But we've not seen these type of inquiry since we started this business year 2008.
We've been shipping over 10K+ of ODROID boards to the US and over 135 different countries every month without any regulation tackle.

Are you trying to ship it to Iran or Iraq (middle east countries)?

I am trying to ship from Japan to the United States.
I know that export regulations are intended to prevent the proliferation of weapons and that such boards are not normally regulated.
However, in order to achieve this purpose, we Japanese have to make this judgment every time we export.
Many Japanese manufacturers and Japanese distributors prepare parameter sheets for their products, so the exporter only needs to obtain them from the manufacturer or distributor.
Of course you are not the Japanese manufacturer.
If you don't have a Parameter Sheet, it will take some time, but you can still make an objective judgment.
For example, one of the judgments under Article 7 I mentioned earlier is as follows

> (a) electronic computers or electronic assemblies thereof designed for use at temperatures exceeding 85 degrees centigrade or below -45 degrees centigrade;

Could you provide such a Parameter Sheet?

Oh, somehow I think the C2 has way more computing power than the guidance system of a 1950s ICBM. So if you're wiling, you could use it... Image

We can't make an official parameter sheet since we have no experience. Sorry about that.
But we can generally say the C2 operating ambient temperature must be 0°C ~ 40°C.

As you say, I think a lot of products could be used as part of a weapon if you wanted to.
I think the important thing is not to unnecessarily proliferate special products to make advanced weapons.
I hope we can all be aware of this and keep the peace. :)

Thank you for your consideration.
Now I'll ask the individual component manufacturers, such as ARM, if they can provide parameter sheets.
Thank you for all your kind answers!
