Middle button no longer enters text into clipboard

Post by Elektronik »

For a very long time I was able to highlight some text and click in a word processor and the highlighted text would be pasted with a middle mouse button click. No longer happens after last system update. Is this the new "normal" for Linux or has the mouse driver now got problems?

Nope, on Ubuntu 18.04 after last update. No idea why. Seems the cpu governor has been changed as well as the fan is off a lot more and I get latency issues on moving the mouse.
Odd, as I use the fan version of the XU4 and am happy to put up with the noise as it makes for a good browser experience, not at all bad for a cheap hobby board! :)

Check the middle button setting on the command line.

Code: Select all

gsettings get org.mate.peripherals-mouse middle-button-enabled
If the result is false, change it.

Code: Select all

gsettings set org.mate.peripherals-mouse middle-button-enabled true

To disable "ondemand" governor, try this command and reboot. https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/appl ... q_govornor

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl disable ondemand

db@wks42:~/Desktop$ gsettings get org.mate.peripherals-mouse middle-button-enabled
true
db@wks42:~/Desktop$ gsettings set org.mate.peripherals-mouse middle-button-enabled true
db@wks42:~/Desktop$ gsettings get org.mate.peripherals-mouse middle-button-enabled
true
db@wks42:~/Desktop$

Still does not work! I guess it is no biggie but I would like to know if it can be made to work again.
Might wait until I can get Ver 20.04 up. ;)
