970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD

Post by mtdew365 »

I see that ameridroid sells the 250GB and 500GB. Can you also use the 1TB and 2TB sold by samsung?

I just wanted to make sure there was not any reason your could not.

Thanks.

Moved from N2/N2+ sub-forum.

Any NVMe storage should work.

I use a 970 Evo Plus 1TB with a H2 - no problems so far.
$ hdparm -t /dev/nvme0n1
/dev/nvme0n1:
Timing buffered disk reads: 2826 MB in 3.00 seconds = 941.92 MB/sec

$ inxi -Dxxx:
ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Samsung model: SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB size: 931.51 GiB speed: 31.6 Gb/s lanes: 4

Just an FYI, Its not a full speed pcie3 slot. So you wont get the speed benefit of a 970 evo plus. You're better off saving your money on a cheaper nvme since it wont matter.

Purchased the 1TB version. Just backed up the old 500GB drive and restored to the 1TB. Works great. :D

This reads like there are only the options "speed" and "price" when buying a SSD.
I disagree with that.
