Go Advance FM Radio

Post by kruffin »

I created a small UI wrapper program around softfm to allow playing FM radio stations with an RTL-SDR USB dongle. It works ok so far. Enjoy!

Could you please do a step by step tutorial how to build your code?

I used the original image from hardkernel and neet to install even the git command.

I haven't got it to build.

Sure. I'll do a fresh install on a new SD card tonight and see what I can write up. Some of it you can get around (git) if you pull it locally and scp it over and some of the reqs I already had from building softfm. I'll work out the full package list though.

Very nice work, there exists a Kodi plugin that lets you use a rtl-sdr dongle for listening to radio but this standalone method is much better.

@ripper121: I ran through the build on a fresh install and updated the readme with the steps. You'll need all these packages installed:

Code: Select all

git build-essential cmake pkg-config libusb-1.0-0-dev libasound2-dev libboost-all-dev librtlsdr-dev libhackrf-dev libairspy-dev libbladerf-dev
Take a look at the updated instructions and let me know if there is something else that isn't clear.

@rooted: I didn't realize Kodi had a radio plugin; that's kindof neat.

Yes now I got it compiled :).
Could you make a version where the step size for the frequency is finer?
Or like a Bookmark version, where its possible to store Frequencys in a bookmark.json with Station name and Frequency

Got the finer tuning working... Easy to read code :).
But not sure if I get the bookmarks running.
I like to use your software to tune Ham Radios in 2m and 70cm Band.
