[SOLVED] Cannot boot up (Blue LED Heartbeat is ON)

Post by fahmdog » Thu May 21, 2020 6:00 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to ODROID and I recently purchased the ODROID-C4.

I tried writing the Ubuntu Mate 20.04 from the official wiki https://odroid.in/ubuntu_20.04lts/c4/ub ... 422.img.xz using etcher. the writing was successful and I already verified the image, but when I tried to boot it up, there's no image appearing on the TV. I am only getting this log below;

Code: Select all

SM1:BL:511f6b:81ca2f;FEAT:A0F83180:20282000;POC:F;RCY:0;EMMC:800;NAND:81;SD?:0;SD:0;READ:0;0.0;CHK:0;
bl2_stage_init 0x01
bl2_stage_init 0x81
hw id:
Is there something that I'm doing wrong here?

For your information, I'm using an SD Card (Sandisk extreme 64GB) for the storage.

Can you please try with another SD card?
Do you have more logs or that's all you have?

unfortunately, that's all the logs that output.

I'm trying with another SD Card, hopefully it'll work

edit: before this, I also tried with the android Image, but still got the same issue...

I'm using a 12V 2A Adapter. It should be okay, since its rated at 5.5V~15.5V

Could it be a problem with the HW itself?

I just tried with a different SD Card (16GB), it's still the same... I'm just gonna leave it ON for a while... Maybe it just needs some time to boot up properly..

Thankfully, you have a debugging board. Please keep the board connected and grab the logs from the board to share it with me. If you board keep printing the same and not booting at all, I would doubt your board is unfortunately faulty. Can you please check if your uSD is tightly inserted to SD card slot?
Also, can you please check the voltage at the pin #1 and #2 if they have properly 3.3V and 5V?

I installed Linux on my PC and checked the boot partition. Then I realized that the boot flag is not set :|
After setting the boot flag now I can finally boot up the board... hmm... I wonder if it's an issue with the image...

Thanks for trying to help me!! I really appreciate it :)

edit: not only that, I also changed to a Sony TV, previously I connected it to a Toshiba TV. Not sure if it's related though...

Thank you for updating that your ODROID-C4 is healthy.I don't think boot flag does not make the difference, IFAIK but TV might be caused. Please keep your eyes on it if it does not boot again and let us know it happens again.

Have fun with your ODROID!!

Yeah, I tried flashing another image and it's working fine too... After checking the boot partition, it's also not set, so it could be TV related issue...
