[SOLVED] CoreElec 9.2.2 - Vertical blue lines issue

Post by boredazfcuk » Thu May 21, 2020 6:07 am

Hey, everyone.

Recently I've noticed that I am now seeing vertical blue lines in the black/near black parts of the screen while playing videos. It's especially noticable slightly after camera changes and when the camera pans sideways.

I thought it might have just been an issue with the media, but I'm rewatching one of my favourite movies at it's happening in this, when it never has done before.

Here's an example of what I mean: https://imgur.com/a/hXJYM7w

It seems to have started around the time of the update which bought in support for new hardware.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

boredazfcuk

Yes. The board is in a case and attached to my wall. I don’t think it’s overheating as it’s been there for about a year without issue.

There was a fast paced action sequence action sequence 3/4 of the way through the movie and it was like the attached picture for the most of it.

It really doesn’t like dimly lit, fast moving camera & quick cuts.

I have no idea.
Try flashing the latest OS image freshly or try other TV or other HDMI cables to narrow down root causes.

Scratch that.

I stumbled across this thread here: https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/ve ... -tv.344378 where other people are seeing the same thing and it seems to be TV issue.

I've noticed it's also happening on the satellite channel. It's a lot harder to spot however. I guess it must be something to do with load, or overheating, as all my media is high bitrate.

I'll just have to put up with it until it frustrates me enough to buy a new TV.

Thanks for your help. Sorry to have bothered you.

Update: I've actually fixed this, so I thought I'd just update this in case anyone else finds this thread with a similar problem.

My Samsung TV has an option in the Menu - Picture > Picture Options > Motion Plus

When this is switched on, I get the blue lines. When I switch it off, the picture is fine.
