Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting the Neo Geo games to run. I've downloaded a bios set and put it into the correct place (bios folder in the roms directory). For some of the games (EmuELEC shows the correct games list), the game will load and show just a black screen whereas others will simply return to the game list.
This is your issue - for all arcade romsets (mame, fbneo etc) bios files must go in a same folder where roms are located, not in separate bios folder. In another words, put neogeo.zip in folder where your games are
Thanks guys. The fix was a mixture of the two responses. First the bios wasn't very comprehensive (missing files) and secondly putting the bios file into the neogeo roms folder made it work.

Been using Batocera for a bit but I wanted to come back and check this out again. Flashed a new SD card, got it running, but...Can't figure out what hostname I should be using to access the device through WinSCP. Can't find it listed anywhere, either. This is my preferred way to load ROMs at this point.

anyone know where to put mame samples?

Also, has anyone had luck running killer instinct 1 and 2? I've tried many versions of mame. Lates was mame 2003 plus (chds were in their folder too)

I think the NetBIOS name is "EmuELEC" but frankly you'll have better luck just using the IP address, that's what I do.

I've done both of those. EmuELEC gets an error saying the host doesn't exist, using the IP address causes a timeout.

Edit: I've tried every capitalization variation of EmuELEC as well - emuelec, Emuelec, EmuElec, emuElec, eMuelec, you get the idea...

And none of that matters, the real problem is that using the IP address causes a timeout. If that happens it wouldn't be reachable by hostname either anyway, so stick with using the IP. Sounds like your device hasn't connected to the network properly.

Can anyone point me to information on remapping buttons per system?

I have fbneo and negeo in a separate folder. I was able to map my controls on my arcade stick so street fighter is mapped properly but I'd love to remap the buttons so that my buttons are correct for neogeo (only along the top button row).

I found this regarding remapping in retroarch https://github.com/retropie/retropie-se ... -remapping

Is this what I should do? Is there an easier way to only remap buttons for the NeoGeo system within emuelec?

I have spent a lot of time testing and tweaking dosbox games on Emuelec. I thought I'd share my findings on the forum. If you aren't interested in dos games then you can completely neglect this post.

You have two options for dos emulation dosbox SDL2 and dosbox_libretro. I only use dosbox libretro for mouse driven games like dune2 and warcraft (RTS games). For everything else I use the SDL2 emulator as it has the best performance and the best button mapping and joystick emulation. That said, I just haven't been able to get it to work for mouse emulation on dosbox SDL2.

One of the key benefits of dosbox SDL2 version is it works well with .conf files which you can tweak heavily for performance and also have reference a unique mapper file for the button mappings. It is nice to have a dedicated mapper for each game. One of the big benefits of the mapper file is that you can have button combinations on the odroid that map to individual key strokes which means you can emulate large numbers of keystrokes by using the left and right triggers as function keys for example. Dosbox refers to them as mod keys.

In order to do that though you need to have Emuelec understand that .conf files are what start the games. To do that you need to modify following files:

/storage/.config/emuelec/scripts/emuelecRunEmu.sh
(Line 176) RUNTHIS='${TBASH} /usr/bin/dosbox.start -conf "${ROMNAME}"'
(This means it will assume the file you use is a configuration file and not an .exe when running dosbox)

/storage/.config/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
(Line 751) <system>
(Line 752) <name>pc</name>
(Line 753) <fullname>DOS x86</fullname>
(Line 754) <path>/storage/roms/pc</path>
(Line 755) <extension>.conf</extension>
(Line 756) <command>/usr/bin/emuelecRunEmu.sh %ROM% -P%SYSTEM% --controllers="%CONTROLLERSCONFIG%"</command>
(Line 757) <platform>pc</platform>
(Line 758) <theme>pc</theme>
(Line 759) </system>
(This means that emulationstation looks for .conf files in your /storage/roms/pc/ directory and not the game executables, which I happen to store in a different folder /storage/roms/dos/

Hope that all makes sense so far.

From there you just need to make a .conf file for each game that includes a reference to a mapper file. Here is an example I have of the contents of the mapper file:

key_esc "stick_0 button 11" (ii)
key_r "key 21" "stick_0 button 5" (right shoulder)
key_y "key 28" "stick_0 button 3" (y)
key_enter "stick_0 button 10" (i)
key_a "key 4" "stick_0 button 1" (a)
key_l "key 15" "stick_0 button 4" (left shoulder)
key_x "key 27" "stick_0 button 2" (x)
key_b "key 5" "stick_0 button 0" (b)
key_space "key 44" "stick_0 button 12" (iii)
key_up "key 82" "stick_0 button 6" (up)
key_left "key 80" "stick_0 button 8" (left)
key_down "key 81" "stick_0 button 7" (down)
key_right "key 79" "stick_0 button 9" (right)
jaxis_0_1- "stick_0 axis 1 0" (joystick directions mapped to joy on odroid)
jaxis_0_1+ "stick_0 axis 1 1" (joystick directions mapped to joy on odroid)
jaxis_0_0- "stick_0 axis 0 0" (joystick directions mapped to joy on odroid)
jaxis_0_0+ "stick_0 axis 0 1" (joystick directions mapped to joy on odroid)

Here is the full list of the buttons on the odroid that you need for the mapper file:

"stick_0 button 8" (left)
"stick_0 button 9" (right)
"stick_0 button 7" (down)
"stick_0 button 6" (up)
"stick_0 button 0" (b)
"stick_0 button 1" (a)
"stick_0 button 2" (x)
"stick_0 button 3" (y)
"stick_0 button 10" (i)
"stick_0 button 11" (ii)
"stick_0 button 12" (iii)
"stick_0 button 13" (iv)
"stick_0 button 14" (v)
"stick_0 button 15" (vi)
"stick_0 axis 1 0" (joy stick)
"stick_0 axis 1 1" (joy stick)
"stick_0 axis 0 0" (joy stick)
"stick_0 axis 0 1" (joy stick)

I'm happy to share my conf files and mapper files for various games. There is a whole lot of tweaks for cpu, graphics and audio that I have done depending on how demanding the game is (e.g. 2 scroller versus 3rd games).

Here is a sample conf and mapper file I am using for X-Wing:

X-Wing.conf https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fW-_RU ... sp=sharing
xwing.map https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rWwsTq ... sp=sharing

Here is a link to a video I created showing some dos games in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d3rlJxwlb8

Hope this is helpful. I'm interested in knowing what other dos gamers are doing to make this stuff work.

Did someone try to change the splash screens ?
Changing them in the Storage folder does not work.
It is read from /usr/config/splash but the file is read only...
I changed it.
it is very easy , by SSH and the commands mount -o remount and cp
Could You please explain it more deeply how to do it? I would like to change splash but /usr folder is mounted as read only.

There is a new test version which includes among other fixes, a sleep mode (thanks to KiwiHop).
Power button will now be a sleep mode and HK+power will be fully shutdown (you can also shutdown from the menu)

As all tests, it is highly recommended to use a clean install, but if you insist on upgrading remember to run "Reset emuelec scripts and binaries to default" from the danger zone menu in EmuELEC settings.

there has been some reports of random black screens, but I cannot reproduce them, so if this happens to you and have a way to reproduce it, please let me know!

Workaround for the random black screens:
on the EMUELEC partition, go into /extlinux/extlinux.conf and add consoleblank=0 after ssh

Great news on the sleep function on the May update, very useful.

I have noticed a small issue with PSP where it can not access the memory card and the 'allow ppsspp access' button doesn't work.

Tested on both an upgrade from the April update and a clean installation.

Otherwise great work on the awesome build!

I just received the updated OGA (Thanks to HK!) with the extra buttons, I got EmuELEC running on it, but it has some minor bugs I need to figure out (hangs after returning from sleep), other than that, the black case is beautiful! really makes the OGA look so much better!

It's the same really, just don't need a wireless dongle hanging out taking up the USB port and the two additional buttons.

I will say I like the updated packaging, they made specific packaging for the Odroid Go Advance which is really nice to see and should alleviate any broken buttons in shipping.

Exactly what @rooted said, plus I really like the black case, for me it looks so much better (but I never did liked transparent electronics) and the case for me was easier to fit in, didn't felt like I was forcing it.

Just FYI. Fixes for OGA v1.1 are ready to go :) had to do some dirty hacks to get the gamepad working on both revisions but wanted to fix it before the revision ships. WiFi and sleep are working perfectly fine, and the gamepads are both mapped almost the same (except for L2 and R2) but more info will be coming once I do the proper release.

Hey guys, I've tried my best to search for answers here but couldn't find any applologies if this has been asked before and I missed it.
I have a couple of just minor issues.
1, When scraping it often doesn't find my game, but if I go to "input", change nothing an just select search, my game is at the top of the list.
2, The quick load of pressing 1+LB doesn't do anything, but save, reset, fps counter, ra menu, fforward, save slot, exit and volume work fine. How do I fix this and how does something like that even break on a fresh image if others don't have the issue?

Great to hear, thank you Shanti for your hard work. Will we be able to update our older images to support the new OGA 1.1, or will we need to start over from a fresh install?

Great to hear, thank you Shanti for your hard work. Will we be able to update our older images to support the new OGA 1.1, or will we need to start over from a fresh install?
You will be able to upgrade as they will be interchangeable with one another, just maybe a small fix will be needed (I'm still not sure about that)
