Need Bluetooth Dongle, BT Keyboard, & BT Mouse for N2

Post by ds_tx » Tue May 19, 2020 11:07 am

I have an Odroid N2 CoreElec,
and need functionality of mouse especially for CoreElec and Kodi, and keyboard too even though less so.

I would prefer to use Apple wireless keyboard which I already have and Apple wireless mouse.
I bought a CSR 4.0 bluetooth dongle from Amerdroid, but my Apple wireless keyboard won't pair to CoreElec.

Is this an Odroid hardware related issue or CoreElec OS software issue?

If I'm not going to be able to connect Apple wireless keyboard or mouse,
what is economical substitute for mouse and keyboard functionality?

I have Hard Kernal's IR remote from Amerdroid, but it's not enough.

My Logitech wireless mouse has proprietary dongle but only pointer works on N2 CoreElec, but neither right or left click.

New device can be supported by kernel update other than hardware, so I believe this request should be addressed to CoreELEC. But what I am curious is the bluetooth dongle you purchased can be paired with your Apple keyboard. Have you paired using the CSR 4.0 dongle on your PC?

The bluetooth keyboard and mouse will not be visible in spiboot with working bluetooth right?
@ds_tx Today I will check the operation of the Apple keyboard and mouse on coreelec and ubuntu with my bluetooth dongle (some small d-link from odroid go advance)

Yes, Petitboot is not capable to run with Bluetooth devices.

@tobetter - Apple keyboard pairs with my Mac computers with built in BT, so I have not paired keyboard with the BT dongle (don't have other PC).
Owner of Ameridroid told me keyboard should pair as long as it is truly BT which it is.
It's not like my Logitech wireless mouse which has a proprietary dongle.

@m8kbv - when I have BT dongle inserted, BT shows to be available - no message otherwise, message to put device in search mode.
When I turn keyboard on and it is in search mode (green light flashes), keyboard is never recognized by BT.

I'm not savvy enough to figure this out, but could problem be with CoreElec OS (Linux?) instead of Mac?
Apple wireless keyboard requires a 4 digit code in order to pair, but I'm not tech savy to figure out how to run a hcitool scan, etc.

What is different about EDIMAX dongle compared to my CSR 4.0 bluetooth dongle from Amerdroid?
Is there no way to get my dongle to work?

What model number Edimax dongle?
And is Edimax dongle Bluetooth only or combo BT and wifi?
Edimax lists Bluetooth dongles as Legacy products, so I don't know if they're even available.
https://www.edimax.com/edimax/merchandi ... _adapters/
Current Edimax products are 2 in 1 wifi and bluetooth adapters -

Haven't seen very good user reviews for them.
