Selfinstall Android Build with Custom Kernel

Post by jinzo1223 » Sat May 16, 2020 8:24 am

Hello,

I was successful in making the custom kernel image following the instruction https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/softw ... ing_kernel. I would like to build an entire custom Android image with this custom kernel. What directory do I place the newly made image file and dtb file before running the commands below?

source build/envsetup.sh
$ lunch odroidn2-eng
$ make -j<core number> selfinstall

Thanks in advance!

If you made a change on the kernel directory, make will create a complete image including your kernel change.

Thank you very much for the reply. I've done the step you mention and created the kernel image. Now, I need to make the Android image that has the kernel, Ramdisk, etc., which can be done by executing the following commands:

$ source build/envsetup.sh
$ lunch odroidn2-eng
$ make -j<core number> selfinstall

from the root directory of my Android repo (in my case odroid-n2). But before I execute these commands, I need to paste the custom kernel image into a directory somewhere in my repo, but I don't know where. I've searched numerous places, and it seems to be /device/hardkernel/odroidn2, but I'm not sure if this is the right place. Any idea on this?

Thanks!

Ok! Voodik was able to explain this to me. So, the kernel file is automatically included when I repo sync the Android repo. It was under odroid-n2/common folder where odroid-n2 is the root folder I synced the repo to.
