No Sound on Disney+

Post by jmuller1984 » Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:39 pm

Hello,

I have installed Disney+ 1.1.5 on my N2.
The video streams fine, but there is no audio.
Other apps output sound fine.

Any suggestions?

Seriously? How did you make it?
We've tried to play with it but failed, it does not allow me to access it from my country so had to use a VPN.

Hello,

I am using the android image from HardKernel, and the Disney+ app from apkpure, I did not compile this myself.

I am in Australia.

Interesting, I've tried to run Disney+ from my location (South Korea) through VPN but even log in is not achieved through a couple of countries. I've not tried Australia yet but definitely will try next week. Thank you for the tip.

Hi, jmuller1984.
Try to change Audio option to English [Audio Description] or to use a pass-through receiver on Lineage OS.

I have installed Lineage OS and installed Disney+ too.
I played Disney+ with pass-through receiver and the audio is fine.

ODROID-N2 do not support AC3 codec, so you have to use pass-through receiver.

If you have pass-through receiver, I recomaned to use Lineage OS.

Great, Thank you.
I have sound from Disney+ with a voice-over describing what's happening on screen. (less than perfect, but a step forward)

Now I'm investigating HDMI pass-through, Lineage OS and ARC.

I'm sending the HDMI signal to the TV which is then sending the audio to my receiver as Optical.

On the subject of AC3, I am getting this 5.1 HDMI audio extractor (RCA phono out) for my own setup and needs soon. My amp(s) don't have optical in. My TV is a 32" 1080p monitor, and I have an HDMI switch to go between laptop HDMI out, Chromecast and N2. (I can also use it as a cheap multi-output soundcard for DJing as the latency of the channels will be in time with each other.)

Details:
HDCP Version: HDCP 1.4
HDMI Version: HDMI 1.4b
HDMI Resolution: 2160P@30Hz/1080P@50/60Hz1080i/720p/576i/480p/480i
Support Audio Format:MP3/AC3/DTS/WAV/WMA/AAC/ALAC/FLAC/APE/OGG/M4A
Support Video Color Format: 24bits/deep color 30bit/36bit
Audio Output: 5.1CH/2.0 Analog audio
Edit: to note, there are similar products, but they do not do 5.1 output correctly. look at the label for the switch.

Did anyone succeed in getting sound with Disney+? LOS16 did not do the trick for me. There does not seem to be an app that can change 5.1 to 2.0 in the app store. As LOS can be rooted, there might be an Android setting that can be changed via a terminal?

Any details on this why Lineage OS (standard, not the ATV version) is superior to the "official" Hardkernel Android Pie 64 release? I just read about an existing automatic frame rate package from AMLogic that might not be available "officially".
Feel free to answer also via PM...

BTW: I only use the ODROID-N2 via receiver (in my case: HDMI 2.0/4K/Atmos compatible).

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by "automatic framerate package from Amlogic"? Do you have any links or detail for it?

I read (haven´t tested it myself yet) that by default, the frame rate when playing back videos cannot be changed dynamically (i.e. without reboot) which is necessary when you want smooth playback in Kodi or other players/apps that support automatic frame rate adjustments. And in one post in another forum, somebody claimed that there is an package from AMLogic that does deliver this functionality, but it might have to be installed as root etc. - mabe this is intended to be sold only to OEMs that build "real" settop boxes or multimedia players based on AMLogic chips. But maybe this is a misunderstanding/misinterpretation from my side.
In fact, I haven´t read about yet why to prefer Lineage OS over the "official" release...

I've tried to play video clips that was fps 23.976 with OSes.

But the refresh rate of a monitor was changed to 24Hz from 60Hz when CoreElec only played that vides,
LineageOS and Official Android image didn't changed refresh rate of a monitor.

I don't have S922X android settop boxes, so I don't know that they can do that.

Please let me know if other android settop boxes support "adjusting auto framerate".
