Odroid C2 has to be rebooted many times

Post by jalcaid001 » Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:23 am

Sometimes while I'm doing Kodi, or Netflix, or nothing at all
It didn't use to be like this
Is there any general diagnostic/cleanup I can do? Or should I just reinstall Android?

Which Android OS image did you install?
Do you use eMMC? or SD card?
Which power supply do you use?

You can try a USB phone charger from a recent phone that supplies at least 5V/2A to make sure that the power supply isn't the issue.

I tried Samsung charger w/o better luck. Still, I have to reboot the box many times. Sometimes just after I reboot it, I have to reboot again

Any cleaning tool?

I think the micro-USB power port might be a root cause.
We've used this PSU after removing J1 jumper. https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c2/getti ... tg_booting

I'm not using the OTG port. I'm using the regular circular connector

Did you remove the J1 jumper?

I just checked. It was removed. I don't remember ever doing it, so perhaps it came like this when I bought it few years ago.
C2 started mishbehaving without me doing anything to the hardware. That's why I suspect it's some software instability.

If you have a DMM, keep measuring voltage on 5.0V rail on the 40 pin GPIO header.
It must be stable at 4.8volt at least.

Voltage is stable at the input of the DC jack (using a USB Voltage/Current mesurer).
Is that not good enough to check?

What were the voltage and current variation range with the USB power measuring equipment?

If the power supply is okay, consider flashing the OS image into your eMMC with Etcher again.

That's what I tried, but I'm having problems

IS it possible that the emmc is bad?
