nextcloudpi docker

Post by bcclsn » Sat May 02, 2020 5:57 pm

hi guys,

I've installed docker and nextcloudpi following this site: https://ownyourbits.com/2017/11/15/next ... 6-and-arm/ on my odroid c1 with archlinux arm.
I've no errors in starting docker and nextcloupi, but the web-ui page doesn't work... it doesn't start.
I rule out it is an archlinux problem because it works, without problems, on my notebook.

please, can anyone help me?
regards.

ArchLinux on your Notebook and Archlinux on C1 has nothing in common in the area where matters. Hardware support.

Most likely the guide installs an x86 docker image that can't run on armhf. Look for a tutorial for RPI

Yes, with great certainty. Most of C1 images that exists are using very old and EOL kernel 3.10.y where Docker support is very questionable in best case. If there is any support for Docker ...

On Debian based distro you can check this way:

Code: Select all

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/docker/docker/master/contrib/check-config.sh
sudo chmod +x check-config.sh
./check-config.sh
This is on Armbian for C1 as a reference: https://pastebin.com/rCtUqA5Z and it also needs some fixing te be able to run Docker.

Try adding apparmor=0 in bootargs in boot.ini and reboot + retry with the stock image

Check the logs docker provides for that container to see what's missing, but igorpec is right - the docker support on the stock image is poor due to the old kernel. A new kernel will be better wrt docker, but may miss things like reboot, emmc support, hdmi...

I did some fixing and Docker works on Armbian (code not yet submitted atm, still cleaning it up) http://ix.io/2kvb Also reboot works, HDMI will work soon, eMMC support didn't tried yet.

Hello from Docker!
This message shows that your installation appears to be working correctly.

To generate this message, Docker took the following steps:
 1. The Docker client contacted the Docker daemon.
 2. The Docker daemon pulled the "hello-world" image from the Docker Hub.
    (arm32v7)
 3. The Docker daemon created a new container from that image which runs the
executable that produces the output you are currently reading.
 4. The Docker daemon streamed that output to the Docker client, which sent it
    to your terminal.

To try something more ambitious, you can run an Ubuntu container with:
$ docker run -it ubuntu bash

docker and nextcloudpi logs seems okay... all seems work fine but web-ui doesn't start :(

btw I can't install a kernel without hdmi support because it's crucial for me.

@igorpec: on armbian, does the hdmi work well?

No, we already wasted few hours to get this working and I am done for this week or month with C1 ... HDMI will come next time, perhaps in a few weeks. BTW. You have no other option if you want to stick to this hardware (with proper security and support from this century) for this ... which means you have to wait or dig in and fix the remaining problems on your own. Perhaps someone else will do it - this is open source development. I don't need HDMI so urgent to waste day/week for that, you do.

Based on output it looks ok and should work. What happes when you do wget -O - https://odroid-ip/ from a system in your LAN?

Can you ping it? Can you try wget on http to see if redirect works?

yes, I can ping... I can also connect to my C1 in ssh (both locally and using ddns service).
wget on http, instead, doesn't work.

btw... I was thinking... can I change the ports of the docker run command? maybe that's the problem...

Try wget locally on the C1.
You can change the ports, but you need to delete and recreate the container with the new ports
