Would it be possible to build and add the kernel modules for Edimax EW-7611ULB?

EW-7611ULB / RTL8723B has been added to the hardkernel upstream https://github.com/hardkernel/linux/com ... 209c88a852
And this thread viewtopic.php?f=194&t=37485 points to the sources.

This is a nice dongle with 2in1 BT and WIFI support. Would really appreciate the addition!
Latest version uses the most recent upstream commit including that driver.
Edimax EW-7611ULB, I have latest image (march 8th) and i still cant get mine to be detected?
I also have the Edimax EW-7611ULB and am unable to get it to work with the latest image. I did update using the .tar - is that expected to update the kernel and everything as well, or might that need a full reflash?

Any decent minimalistic theme? Non of "officials" in download menu are "clean" enough. Design of those few theme is actually quite bad for OGA.

Any ideas why my clock is showing the incorrect time? I thought that it would correct itself upon connecting to WiFi, but it hasn’t. I’m in the London time zone if that makes any difference I.e config changes? Thanks all

Same for me. I wouldn't have written my reply if the dongle worked using the latest image. It doesn't work. I upgraded using the tar. Wifi in general works, I tested it with another dongle, an old Dynamode 11n nano with a Realtek 8188SU, but doesn't work with the Edimax. I was hoping to have bluetooth and wifi to test both, controller support and wifi.

You need to set the correct time manually in the emuelec config file, in the following section...

# ------------ F - Language and keyboard ------------ #
## Set the language of the system (fr_FR,en_US,en_GB,de_DE,pt_BR,es_ES,it_IT,eu_ES,tr_TR,zh_CN)
system.language=en_US
## Set you local time
## Select your timezone from : ls /usr/share/zoneinfo/ (string)
system.timezone=America/New_York

However, I'm not sure what the correct format for you would be... maybe Great_Britain/London?

I can’t do anything after setting “boot on retroarch” and reboot, stuck on the emuelec loading screen, any solution? Maybe update one of config files? Thanks

i saw a flashing of the Emuelec Logo for a brief moment when i was playing Doom port. And i think maybe the same thing is happening in the Emuelec menu itself(when i'm moving around the menus), but its too brief of a flash to confirm its the logo that is flashing. And i think it also happens in other emulators but again, its a very brief screen flicker, not like the one i experienced it in the Doom port.

Di anyone notice this? Is it a known bug?

This happens to me too. When turn the screensaver on, sometimes the Emuelec logo flashes and stays.

Hi All,

First thanks to shanti for this great OS.
After having installed it on my Android box, I wanted to give it a try.
And i'm not disappointed. As an alpha/beta release, it's already quite impressive.

I have a number of small observations or features/enhancements i'd like (and probably most users) to be added in next releases:

- Change volume using buttons (already possible ?)
- Save currently set volume in menu so that it's retained after each reboot
- Enhance the PSP performance (I tried wipeout, it's not currently playable). Also, wipeout with PSP libretro crashes after passing some screen.
- Enhance Amiga emulation so that mouse / virtual keyboard is perfectly integrated (many amiga games can only be launched after pressing mouse or pressing some keyboard buttons). Also, it should be possible to load/save games without entering the F12 menu.
- By default, core overrides should be activated because as of now, the only way to activate them is to modify the config file manually and I cannot do that given that I don't have any wifi dongle and I cannot access the os files using winscp or whatever. So I have to live without core overrides which is a pity as I cannot customize each emulator.

If this can be done, this will probably be the best OGA distribution ! No doubts about that !

Keep up the excellent work.

Stephane

This theme is perfect. Except it is not optimalised for OGA display resolution.

You need to set the correct time manually in the emuelec config file, in the following section...

# ------------ F - Language and keyboard ------------ #
## Set the language of the system (fr_FR,en_US,en_GB,de_DE,pt_BR,es_ES,it_IT,eu_ES,tr_TR,zh_CN)
system.language=en_US
## Set you local time
## Select your timezone from : ls /usr/share/zoneinfo/ (string)
system.timezone=America/New_York

However, I'm not sure what the correct format for you would be... maybe Great_Britain/London?

Thanks for this. Can anyone confirm the correct time zone for the UK?

Hi,

I'm loving EmuELEC. Everything I want works really great. But is there a way to reverse A and B buttons in Emulationstation to navigate western style like it is done in batocera?
Thanks in advance.

Hi! I've started porting some good EmulationStation themes for EmuElec / OGA. So far I have worked on:

- SuperRetroBoy: https://github.com/KALEL1981/es-theme-Super-Retroboy
- Next Pixel : https://github.com/SamYStudiO/es-theme-next-pixel
- EmuElec Alekfull: https://github.com/EmuELEC/es-theme-alekfull-EmueELEC

SuperRetroBoy is pretty much finished, being a simple (yet great looking) theme it was easier to adapt. I've also made a variant with colored logos taken from EmuElec's clean theme, and I'm planning to do color variants. I'll get in touch with the author to determine if he's OK with a fork and redistributing the said fork.

Next Pixel is designed for Recalbox. I have most of it working, but since the author of the original theme wants the pictures to be exclusive to Recalbox (and so does not provide any PSD resources), I'll have to design new pictures. Which actually is a good thing because I'll use a pattern that works better on smaller screens, and I can make more pictures for systems/collections that are not supported by Recalbox.

Alekfull is well on its way too, right now all I have to get right is editing theme.xml to get the caroussel to scale properly, but that's giving me headaches

Art Book Pocket looks very clean, I'l be sure to have a look at it and maybe make an EmuElec/OGA version. It's a tad too minimalistic for my tastes, but maybe I could make variants also

When I'm done and I have an understanding with the authors (or if the license allow redistributing freely), I'll share the results. Stay tuned!

Man, please fix (or even replace) more readable font (Open Sans Condensed works quite well) and make right game list little bit wider. Also game description needs more space or at least properly rolling text in box. EmuELEC menu could be with grey background and white font too - like rest of the theme (it save my eyes at night).

But I'm also curious about rest of themes that you working on :)

the NES as an option, does't show up anymore in the menu for me to pick up the games to play. I can still play them from "last played tab" . I think there was a Options Tab to tick systems that show in the menu, BUT i can't find it.

Small bug I’ve noticed with the battery icon. It appears that on fully charging the device and pulling the cable out, that the charging symbol remains. This still occurs when the console is shut down and then restarted. The only way I’ve found that restores it to its normal state is by disabling and then re enabling it in the menu. As I say very small bug, and probably just a very small code to correct to fix it.

don't know if someone else has happened to him ... but when I updated to the latest version ... bios were deleted (some ... not all) and for example scummvm was not patched with sdl2 ... last night I copied all the roms to pc (100 gb I already have ...) and install, now it works fine.

If it happens again there is a way to generate log? To send them. Good job..

- Amiberry starts the * .adf but then does not respond with any button ... with a libreto if they work well for me.

- In x68000 when loading the * .m3u it gives me disk error ... they are the same roms that I have in retropie working without problem.

found it : button VI > UI Settings> System Displayed . I got scared i stumbled on a bug, in actuality i think i changed stuff unintentionally when i accidentally changed the language in german:)

A new version has been uploaded today March 08 check OP for the info :)
Bad news is that the update deleted my Drastic game saves... After the update, Drastic wasn't working anymore, and I had to reinstall it using the scripts setup.

Good news is that I can now do this..

Image

And this!!!!

Image

Stylus now works perfectly with the joystick.

Again, to access the Drastic menu plug in a USB keyboard into the OGA and press M (thanks to @Cg2005).

Going to continue testing the update. Battery indicator is a very welcome new feature.

Thanks Shanti!
How did you increase the fonts in the drastic menu? It's almost not readable so small the fonts are.
I really can't remap my controls buttons because i can't see anything.

In this version, the font size is actually already much better compared to the previous version. You can refer to Cg2005's screen caps of the Drastic menu from Retropie as a reference.

Here it is. viewtopic.php?f=193&t=37516&start=400#p284650

Amiga 1200 - not full screen, off centred and terrible sound
Amiga 500 - not full screen

Anybody had better luck with these systems, or know of any settings to change to improve them and utilise full screen?

I can access the seetings of Amiberry by pressing F1 and X on the Advance (from memory, I can check later). There you can center the screen vertically and horizontally under the "display" tab. That worked for me but I wasn't able to figure out how to save these settings, I have to do it everytime I start a game.

I’ve seen those settings to, but they didn’t appear to make any difference. Would you mind sharing a picture to show exactly how you are achieving full screen? Thanks

Same for me. I wouldn't have written my reply if the dongle worked using the latest image. It doesn't work. I upgraded using the tar. Wifi in general works, I tested it with another dongle, an old Dynamode 11n nano with a Realtek 8188SU, but doesn't work with the Edimax. I was hoping to have bluetooth and wifi to test both, controller support and wifi.
The reason for the reply was in response to the link you provided, I have no such dongle, and even if I did my device does not work with ANY dongle, so I cannot test, if it doesn't work I don't know what else to do, you need to find out why using dmesg I guess, then we could proceed if its something rather obvious.

Having switched from Batocera three days ago I have a question. Can I update the same way I was doing with Batocera without a full reflash ?
Can I just replace the "Boot" partition files ?

Also, is Daphne working for someone ? It was working under Batocera with the method explained on the Libretro wiki...

According to the wiki to make the bezels/overlay work
I've tried it and it doesn't work I've even created * .cfg in Storage/.config/retroarch/config/Snes9x/Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (USA).cfg
input_overlay = "/tmp/overlays/bezels/snes/Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (USA).cfg"
Inside retroarch in onscreen overlay if I add it if it works but it would be for everyone .....

Sorry in advance if this has been asked before but I couldn't find an answer. Everything has been working excellent aside from only one game working on Dreamcast Marvel vs Capcom 2. For some reason or another everything else just kinda tries to load than returns to the game list. I've checked under missing BIOS list and noticed for Dreamcast to .bin files were missing: dc_flash.bin and dc_boot.bin I downloaded both and put them in the roms/bios/dc folder but Im still getting the smae bhavior when trying to launch a game aside from mvsc2, anyone know how to fix this or is this build just not working for all dc games?

The two Dreamcast bios, did you checked their MD5 ?

Daphne should be available as of the next update, that is what I was told.

Try booting into the Dreamcast BIOS homescreen and changing your language to English. I had a similar problem with sonic adventure and changing the BIOS region fixed this problem for that game.

Also try recopying the game Files, sometimes if the files aren’t copied correctly then the game won’t boot.

Finally, make sure you’re using the flycast core. Some games will not boot using recast

As the Amiga used different resolutions for different games (it's a computer not a console after all) it isn't possible to have a setting that will work with all games. For the Amiga you'll have to settle on a compromise and accept borders for some games. To save a setting you like, you need to enter the Amiberry menu, go to configurations, select either the A500 config or A1200 config (depending on if you're running an OCS/ECS or AGA game) then click save.

Hi, just tried both those settings, however they don’t appear to make much difference. I’m fine with borders but all games are all off centres to the left

Think I sorted it, adjusted display width by one notch and seems to have done the trick. Doesn’t appear like there is a way to save the adjusted display settings though?

Would be nice if the width was set to 784 as standard as this centres the games that are off to the left, still has borders but is much more playable.

Would also be nice to be able to use the joystick as the mouse cursor, like is possible with the scummvm emulator.

Thanks for your help again 👍

Dreaded black screen seems to be happening much more frequently now, don’t remember it happening at all on previous version. Only resolve is to press power button which shuts the console down, would suck if you were quite far through a game without saving 😢

Yes and one of them didn’t match so I’m assuming that’s the issue but I can’t seem to find the correct one anywhere. Where can I find these that match up?

Maybe you've already tried, but it helped me to Google all of the MD5 hashes literally as they as a string are to find all the matching BIOS'.

For me it worked only by marking the two centering options and then hitting resume. But like amigafan said, different might require different settings. I will see if I can make the saving work.

At: Configfiles\amiberry\conf there are the default .uae files that are used for A500 and A1200. You can copy one of these and rename it to "gamefilename".uae and change the settings in that file and amiberry will load these settings for that game. You need a .uae file for every game but it seems to work so far.

What worked for me was to set the emulator to handy or whatever the default emulator is under the per system game settings/Atari Lynx
