This didnt work as self install with etcher.
4GB_arm64_PIE-R.06_selfinstall-odroidn2.tar.gz

could it be that its actually for fastboot and just a typo between the two?

and what is the difference between ATV PIE R.06 vs PIE R.06? One is ATV variant and one close to ASOP PIE?

Edit: I'm completely lost, don't know how to update. When I chose Update from downloaded package I get the message "No apps can perform this action".
Is there some other way to update, since I don't have "Fastboot" installed.
To install the fastboot package you must use fastboot and you can do it only if you also have the serial kit, see https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/softw ... oid_images

Ouch.. I'm sorry I made a mess with my auto build script and this caused wrong file extension between .xz and tar.gz files, I'll fix this ASAP.
ATV = Android TV interface, the other one is the default android interface, like on Android phones and tablet.

Well, since I don't have the serial kit, Fastboot update is not an option for me...

Any other way to update, similar to non ATV version ?

One more question: What is the main difference between your "4GB_arm64_PIE-R.06_selfinstall-odroidn2.img" and official "selfinstall-odroidn2-eng-s922_9.0.0_64_master-36-20191223.img"

Nope, at the moment you can only update using fastboot or the selfinstall image.
There would be also a third option (OTA updates) but I'll enable this in the future.

My ROM is based on the official source code released from HK, with updates, improvements, new features and more.

OK tnx, since I use it only for one app and one game that work perfectly I'll stay at my present version until the one with update possibility that does not destroy all my setting/preferences is available.

Btw, can your non ATV version be updated in any way except by using Fastboot ?
I tried latest "official" 64bit version, and although that one can be updated it does not suit me. With that version my IPTV app can display only 720p resolution. Two versions of that app are available, "tablet" one with more options but only 720p resolution, and ATV version with less option but with 1080p resolution. So I stick to ATV version :)

@secuflag - Thank you very much for your ROM. Yesterday I was using non-ATV version R05 of your ROM flashed in MicroSD, it is working fine. Everything setup quickly and it is working fine and stable.
Regarding regular UPDATES, I was using ODROID Update Utility. Will it update from HK repository or your repository? After installed I did updated using Odroid Update Utility was went through.
Let me use it for few days and then install the same or updated version in eMMc module which is faster than MicroSD.
The VPN provided with your ROM is the free Open VPN or license to be purchased. Thanks for your work.

@mangaldasan: From HK repository!
I disabled the update check and it shouldn't be used (manually) for now.

Hi! First thanks very much for your builds, looks like great progress for the N2 :)

I did want to ask for your help though...I was trying to follow your directions on github to build with TARGET_BOARD_4GB=true and TARGET_BUILD_GOOGLE_ATV=true but there is a repeatable build error due to missing meson64_odroidn2_android.dtb. I seem to get the same thing for both 32 and 64 bit builds (ANDROID_BUILD_TYPE=64 toggle). Can you help? I'd love to have a working environment :)

Hi and thanks for the help @secuflag! I wiped everything and started fresh with a new repo init and then the following:

I keep getting this error. I tried to export PATH=$PATH:/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/aarch64/aarch64-linux-android-4.9/bin/aarch64-linux-android-gcc ... but this didn't seem to help. Any ideas? Thanks again!
Edit: It appears we should change to refs/tags/android-9.0.0_r52 revision for AOSP toolchains in manifest.xml. master branch is now for Android 10. I'm not finished building but it's gotten a lot further than before.

Hi, I installed this version, it works well but I have a problem, I use iptv extreme pro, when I try to load a channel with the internal player the application closes while using an external player it works well, I don't understand the reason, I used other Android versions for Odroid N2 and I have never had problems, do you think it can be solved? Thank you.

Question @secuflag, and help/solution needed for a game:

Is there a new version on horizon ?

I installed several games from Play Store and all work perfect except "Soulcraft". This game installs OK but does not open at all. It asks for Storage Permision, and when granted it just closes.
This same game (with identical system settings) works perfect on Android Pie 64bit (20200110), so is there something missing in your version that this game needs ? Is there something I can do to fix this, because my son really likes this game, and I really like your ATV :)

Tnx, do you need any log file I can send you from Android Pie 64bit (20200110) version where this game works on the same equipment (only different uSD card) to help find out what is the problem ?

Even if/when you get Play Store to work you cannot install Chrome from it, nor can you sideload it on this version.

To get to old version of play store, go to Apps-Play Store and "Clear Data" then "Uninstall Updates". Now if you start Play Store the old version should open and work; it does for me...

Don't know how to fix your Ethernet problem. My Ethernet works perfect on Pie 32 & 64bit versions...
I'd try with different cable and check connections, and that's about all I can do.

You mean image (pictures) or the ROM? I can see the pictures if that is what you mean.

Sorry, I meant pictures. They were not visible while at home. But it may be due because of my DNS filtering...

Hi secuflag, thanks for your work on this ROM.

I am an Odroid Newbie and am trying to set up the ATV 0.7 Pie build ( "4GB_arm64_ATV_PIE-R.07_selfinstall-odroidn2.img" ) on my Odroid N2 4GB (on emmc), but I am not able to connect to my Wifi. What happens is that after I enter the Wifi password, nothing seems to happen even if I wait 10 mins - it just stays at the password entry screen, without any error messages or prompts. Nothing happens even after I click enter/down arrow on my RF Keyboard (the Rii i8+ sold by Ameridroid). The on-screen keyboard does not work either.

My Wifi dongle is the "WiFi Module 5 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Dual Band" dongle sold by Ameridroid. The dongle itself works because on my CoreElec install (from an SD card) it is able to connect to the network. Even on ATV 0.7 Pie I can see the Wifi network in the network list, but when I enter the password nothing happens.

EDIT:
  • Also tried 0.6 ATV and non-ATV versions, same issue.
  • With some posts I found via google, I tried various combinations of pressing the <ENTER> key along with <SHIFT>, <CTRL>, <ALTGR>, <FN> - nothing helps.
  • I did some more googling and it appears that it might be a problem with the keymapping of the <ENTER> key on the Rii i8+ external keyboard. However, the couple of solutions which I checked all want you to download an app from the Play Store to remap the key, and since I can't even enter the Wifi password I am dead in the water.
Can you help? I also tried the non-ATV version but on that ROM, I cannot even see the settings app in the launcher, so I cannot even get to the network settings. The Odroid is connected to the TV via an HDMI cable. I can see that there are more icons in the top status bar dropdown (I see the ends of the icon circle) but there is no scroll bar, and trying to scroll with the mouse does nothing...

Please let me know if I can provide more info.

mh strange, I don't have that kind of keyboard but I can suggest you to try to select the OK/Submit button using the arrow keys and then press Enter.

I've tried that, along with all sorts of combinations of OK/Arrow/Enter, moving the cursor to the on-screen keyboard and trying OK and ENTER there, tried to use the mouse pointer on the on-screen keyboard NEXT button etc. I even tried attaching an external USB mouse (a regular one, which I use on my laptop) and clicking on the OSK NEXT button but that did not work either.

Tried to check if there were other keyboards available in the settings but that did not work either.

You can update using the fastboot package but you need the USB-UART Module Kit.

I think you need it to boot the board into fastboot mode. Run the fastboot command either inside boot.ini (before loading the kernel, without the need for the uart adapter) or in uboot (with the uart). Then you can use fastboot flash xxx yyy from a pc with the n2 hooked up to microusb.

I tried and i saw a non free app for a builtin fonction so I uninstalled it instantly.

I thinking about the fact that I can't use because of there is no software solution to use or properly. We can't use gpu because no real amlogic drivers integration for the moment. And Android TV It's not really usable cause of many bugs. It's pretty frustating.

My odroid N2 will keep to take dust and for a long time. A really Bad invest.

I think you're confusing some information: the N2 fully supports the GPU (accelerated rendering and video decoding) on Android. There's no gpu driver for linux/x11. Just try some games from the play store!
Regarding chromecast - I think the stock chromecast apps works only on whitelisted hardware (google devices, vendors that sell hardware chromecasts, etc). Tell us if you know any device that is not locked down and can run as a chromecast, though it's not speciffically designed to be a chromecast.
I think being a chromecast is a nice bonus, and that app provides it. Ignore the 5 min limit - for youtube streaming it worked for hours on the free version.
If you were after high resolution DRM content player, then yes, the N2 is not for you because it has an unlocked bootloader and is not certified. Though there are kodi plugins that play hd netflix.

I'd like to bring up some bug or missing features (different point of view) before bringing my board to sleep.

First, when I launch the application play store, I can't exit it. I tried right click, escape key, alt-f4 and many others. My only option was cut off power supply, it's pretty violent.

And the second one, I didn't found how to change keyboard layout (only qwerty).

I didn't manage to going up over 60Hz on 1080p resolution, I have a 2.0 HDMI cable on a 2.0 HDMI 144Hz monitor.

Some case which are pretty annoying for me.

To exit the play store you need to "press" the Home button, which isn't mapped on a TV remote via cec. I built my own remote: http://adrianpopagh.blogspot.com/2020/0 ... n.html?m=1
