I’m actually wondering the answer to his original question as well. A lot of the other systems I wasn’t able to use zipped folders I had to use the actual extracted files to get the game to run (example being Pc Engine CD). Does the PlayStation emulator work with zipped files? I know the system config says they are readable but I haven’t gotten any zipped folders to run except for arcade games
Yes, psx works with zipped folders. If your zip files aren't showing up in the games list, just add the .zip extension to the system in es_systems.cfg (works for other systems too, i.e. .crt for c64 and so on).
Thanks for the information I did like you Said the game did show up bit didnt start at all :(
I recommend using PSX2PSP to convert your files. Very simple to use and it’s shareware.

Converts everything into one .pbp file
PBP files are working really well for me. Thanks!

The PBP process takes a while, but once it is done the compression is nice and it seems to run pretty fast compared to zip. I think in Total I saved 20-30gb on my psx collection

can someone pls make some light about how to organize FinalBurn romsets? (arcade part + cpsX etc.). Is there an FBA (neat) path and/or a FBA2012?
Thx

There's an fbneo path, that's your Final Burn path. I've noticed the scraper doesn't have it assigned to 'Arcade/Mame' though, so it doesn't really scrape properly, so I split out my CPS1, CPS2, and NeoGeo stuff, and put the rest in mame.

so u split in 3 those paths, and the frontend have all those games run by fba?

Verious versions of it. some of them are optimized for one system or another. It's easier to have those three individual ROM sets though.

I could put all the set in "fbneo", then have "mame", "cps1", "cps2", "cps3" and "neogeo" to be symlink to point at "fbneo": this way each time it looks for roms to find it should find the right ones for that path.
what do you say :-)

I think it'll find all the other ROMs in there too and make a total mess. ;)

You may have to manually select to core for CPS - CPS3 games, but it is well worth having everything in one location vs splitting them up between MAME, CPS, and Arcade

I have close to 1100 games in Arcade section and all of them run properly, Just make sure you type in the name of the cores correctly

Does anyone get VVVVVV to work. I cannot get past loading screen then i get stuck and no button presses are working
I get the same by loading Cannonball.
I wonder if there's a log for us to see for eventual way to fix it...

VVVVVV will be working on the next release, there was a bug on the code that prevented gamepad configuration, I am not sure about canonball, as it uses Retroarch, it should in theory work.

Hey to the people who couldn't save their core settings in RA ui:

/STORAGE/.config/retroarch/retroarch.cfg

quick_menu_show_save_content_dir_overrides = true
quick_menu_show_save_core_overrides = true
and quick_menu_show_save_game_overrides = true

that will make overwriting work

I'm trying to connect to my OGA via network on my Linux machine. Is there a default username and password for Emuelec? I can't find a way to set it in the settings.

A thought on Mame2003 vs 2010. Reading some other forums, Mame2003 runs very well on Pi3. Mame 2010 runs some games which dont run on 2003 on Pi3, however most games on Mame2010 runs slowly, including games that otherwise work perfectly on Mame2003. The Mame project prides itself on accuracy and as it has matured, it has grown increasingly more accurate over time. However, accuracy of emulation comes at the cost of system resources, which the Raspberry Pi is in short supply of compared to the more robust boards found in full PCs. Since the Pi 2 and 3 are very roughly the equivalent to a 900Mhz Pentium 3 from 1999, running a Mame core closer to that time frame is just going to perform better.

Since performance is a little bit better than an RPi 3B+ (4th down), would it be better to test and use Mame2003plus for improved performance? Mame2010 can also remain to run newer games if there is enough power.

Isn’t that the point of mame2003-plus? It’s a fork of 2003 with added game compatibility, closer to 2010

Ack, I just ran the file manager in the scripts section, not knowing that they don’t work at all, and after it crashed, now I get no audio from anything. Hopefully a reflash fixes it...

Is there a way to apply input settings made in the RetroArch to EmulationStation? Since I changed in RetroArch Settings -> Input -> Port 1-5 -> Analog To Digital Type = none and saved it through Configuration File -> Save Current Configuration it works great while I running the Dreamcast game Toy Commander through RetroArch. But when I running the same game through EmulationStation the problem is still here. How can I apply this changes for EmulationStation or made the same changes for EmulationStation?

Hey man, sorry for the noob question, but what's the benefit of setting Analog to Digital Type to none?

Just FYI I think that the FBA2012 core will be included in the enxt release. Also the Final Burn Neo (probably just Final Burn now) game section will correctly be designated "arcade" and scrape properly. But yes, you might need to manually switch between the two FB cores for the Capcom stuff to see which works better.

Personally I like having my CPS and NeoGeo stuff seperate, having to find them among 3000 MAME ROMs or 5000 Final Burn ROMs is a little difficult sometimes.

Hmm this sounds weird, ES only changes input configuration only when you set up the gamepad (which is predefined on the OGA), at no other time does it change input settings, you can see what settings can be set from ES that affect Retroarch if you go into the main menu > game settings > per system advance options (or by selecting a game, the pressing select and choosing advance game options)

If this is in fact happening I am going to need to check why.

I'm trying to get PlayStation One games to work but having issues. Every time I try and run a PSX rom it looks like it locks up and then boots back to the PSX rom selection screen after 1 or 2 minutes. I tried following GroceryBag's advice and convert the PSX roms into PSP roms and this doesn't work either. When I put the PSP converted roms on to my SD card and try to load them up. Not sure what it says as the error message gets off by the screen. Something along the lines of the PSP version of this PSONE game is not supported … Not really sure, again the error message gets cut off when it appears on the screen.

Would be most grateful if someone can point me in the right direction in getting PlayStation One Roms working on Emuelec. Other than that, it's a great emulation program and I've been enjoying it so far.

Has anyone tried headphones? I can't seem to get sound out of the headphone jack even when I change the sound settings
Same happened to me. If you have it set to headphones and it doesn't work, then set it to speaker, exit the menu so the message about rebooting appears, then go back into the sound config and change it back to headphones. You should hear it switch over to headphones when you exit the menu. Should work after that, but I've had to repeat this every time I power on the device.

Is there any way I can manually install drastic? I have the gz file for it, I just need to know where to put it and what to edit.

It did work kinda but it keeps asking for correct password what am I doing wrong here also is there another simpel way to do it.
i don't think Chrome will work. WinSCP will work, and even Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) will work. In Window Explorer just type \\<ip address>

FYI Windows 10 now supports SSH native.
Just open the command prompt search for CMD
then ssh root@ your device's ip
accept the host key
type in the password and you are in.

Since performance is a little bit better than an RPi 3B+ (4th down), would it be better to test and use Mame2003plus for improved performance? Mame2010 can also remain to run newer games if there is enough power.
Mame2003 plus is the default mame emulator in Emuelec

Discovered how to properly display games with multiple files such as PC Engine CD games for which there is no (as far as I know) single file alternative.

1. In the game-level settings/options, choose NEVER for SHOW FOLDERS.
2. SHOW HIDDEN FILES to NEVER
3. Select a supporting file (e.g, *.bin or *.ogg) of a game, go to the game-level settings/options, EDIT THIS GAME'S METADATA > HIDE > SAVE
4. Do this for all supporting files and only leave the main game file (e.g., *.cue) unhidden.

It can be fairly tedious, especially for game that have 50++ supporting files. But to me, it's worth it.

By the way, if you plan to scrape, do it before hiding the files. Scraping seems to reset the hide file settings.

I managed to fix it, but I need to add chmod +x to the drastic script. Will there be an update to fix the scripts coming soon?

Please help!! So I added some mame roms to the Arcade folder, so the Arcade pops up and I can scroll through the games but when I try to load a game it wont load and resets back to the game select screen. Is there a special bios I need. I downloaded the 1.39 rom pack so It should work from my understanding. Thanks in advance

It's ok question. Sorry for not clarifying this in advance. By default instead of null value there are Left analog value. This makes "Toy Commander" (Dreamcast) unplayable because analog is steering wheel and dpad is used to change the camera view. Left analog value makes each movement of the steering wheel at the same time a change in the camera view too. And it's unplayable - you just cant see normally where are you going. But the null value makes controls playable. By the way - the game runs great on the Odroid Go Advance! It can stutter some while loading but the rest of time it runs smoothly (at least in the beginning of the game). "Toy Commander" is really cool 3D game on Dreamcast. I advise everyone to play it.

Thanks for your response! I really like EmuELEC on Odroid Go Advance becase it allows me to run one of my favourites childhood games on a handheld device :D

After I changed Emulation Station main menu -> Game settings -> Per system advanced configuration -> Sega Dreamcast -> Integer scale (pixel perfect) from OFF to ON then analog and dpad are detached even if I run the game through Emulation Station. But when I change the value back to OFF the analog and dpad stays detached. Maybe there are some overriding things?

By the way I did change RetroArch -> Settings -> Input -> Menu Controls -> Menu Swap OK & Cancel Buttons to ON but this settings seems intended to work only in RetroArch menu and therefore it's not working in the Emulation Station menu. After the PlayStation experience, it’s much more common to have an OK action on button B and a cancel action on button A. But when it can be enabled only in RetroArch and not in Emulation Station, the problem is that the control is not uniform, which sometimes leads to confusion. It would be great to have the same setting in Emulation Station. Is there the same setting in Emulation Station?

You can redefine the gamepad on ES and set the buttons to your liking, they will carry over to RA.

Make sure you are converting BIN & CUE files into .PSP files. EBOOT.PSP files are proprietary only to PSP/VITA. I don't believe you can use PSX2PSP with Track files. Also if you use multiple discs make sure you add multiple discs to the same conversion. do not convert them independently

Is there a way to speed up the games? I play pokemon and enjoy playing on 2 or 4x speed to speed up the game. I am new to the emulation via a device other than a cellphone. I did attempt going to Settings>Frame Throttle>Maximum Run Speed with no luck.

Per viewtopic.php?f=193&t=37516&p=279406&hi ... ss#p279406 there are a bunch of hotkey combinations that can be used while in game. For fast forward just hold down button 1 and button 5. FYI, here are the rest of the hotkeys:

In-game hotkeys for Retroarch (some of them also work on Amiberry):
Hotkey is button 1
1 + Up/down controls volume
1 + LB Loads Savestate / RB saves
1 + 4 Shows/hides FPS
1 + 5 fast forward
1 + 6 quits game
1 + x loads menu (this also works with 3 + 4)
1 + b resets
1 + dpad left/right change save slot
For other emulators 1 + 6 quits emulator

I appreciate the quick reply! only issue is that the hot keys bring up an ingame menu when pressing the "1".
