[SOLVED] Orange emmc with android lollipop

Unread post by IET_DEMO » Fri Jan 17, 2020 4:32 am

Hi guys,

I am having problem with the new orange emmc on the C2.
I have tried 4 different emmcs on 4 differents c2 and it's all doing the same problem.
After a few(2-3) reboots the c2 is not usable or doesn't boot at all, it stays stuck at android logo(bootloop).

i've tried the last Lollipop image available on the list:
selfinstall-odroidc2-eng-s905_5.1.1_master-317-v3.9.img.

Is this normal? Or lollipop doesn't have the compatibility driver for the new emmc?

I am looking to stay on lollipop, because i use an app called CsipSimple and it is not compatible with marshmallow arch.

thanks in advance

Was the latest Marshmallow OS image fine to boot with your eMMC and C2 boards?

The Marshmallow image seems pretty stable for the few hours i tried it.
And no bootloop after a couple of reboots
I guess the lollipop image is the problem

Did you flash the Lollipop image with Etcher?

Pretty sure I tried with ethcher and win2diskimager-odroid-v1.3

Do I absolutely need etcher for the new emmcs?

I just restarted from scratch with the last selfinstall image : selfinstall-odroidc2-eng-s905_5.1.1_master-315-v3.9.img.
I flashed the selfinstall image with etcher reinstalled all my applications and configurations.
Then i Read back the image with win32

Then wrote the image on an other orange emmc with win32 and it seems pretty stable now.

So i think I needed a new image from scratch started from etcher.

This is weird, but now that I have a new working ghost i will try on a few samples to verify the long term stability after a couple of reboots.

Did you have any feedback yet about the orange emmc and c2 lollipop?

Thanks for the help!

WELL i just closed my powerbar to simulate a shutdown/reboot and 1 out of 2 is not booting anymore..
This behaviour never happened in the past.Is the batch of emmcs we received is bad?

OHH and if I let the c2 connected, it shows a broken android character after a few minutes with a red triangle(Just happened while writing this post).

And I would like to know if the C2 out of stock is temporary or no more C2 production?

We are rebuilding the Android 5.1 image again with a MMC driver patch which can improve the new Samsung eMMC chipset compatibility.
I hope we can release it by early next week.

Due to the temporary DDR3 RAM chip shortage problem, a new batch production has been delayed.
I heard we can sell the C2 again two or three weeks later.

Try this.
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c2/os_im ... droid/v4.0
It seems pretty stable after a lot of reboots and shutdowns on 5 samples.
The os is way more fluid too, there were some strange behaviour on the 3.9 now it looks promising!

Thanks for the image and quick response!!
