Backup eMMc module

Unread post by Truly » Sat Jan 11, 2020 6:57 am

Hi everyone!

After I installed and set-up my system using ubuntu minimal, I've made a backup/image of the eMMc module using DD command.
Obviously, I had to poweroff N2, remove the module and connect it to my desktop in order to make the image.

Since N2 has SD card slot in addition to eMMc, I was wondering is there a way to make N2 boot from it first?
If this can be done, I can run another ubuntu minimal on a SD card just for the backup.

Any ideas?

Use the Petitboot by moving the slide switch to "SPI" position and you can choose a boot media.

Or, this guide might be helpful.

It turned out that the first boot device is SD card by default, so N2 booted into the fresh ubuntu minimal installation.

From there I was able to simply DD the mmcblk0.

Thanks @odroid.
