I decided to buy the n2 system, it will be my first mini board pc I was looking at raspberry due to berry boot and the nice gui on berry boot and the infinite number of os as long as you have drive space also the option to put it wherever you want!
Reading this forum and watching YouTube I learned about odroid being better and the advantages over raspberry, but I'm a pc tec windows, dos, batch, sys I never got into Linux etc.
I have seen in the forum petitboot and uboot but are they easy gui or hard Linux programs? And what's the maximum number of os you can install with them?
I'm fed up with the limited easy outdated media boxes I waste money and time on and want something infinitely upgradable plus a chance to play with Linux and game emulator

You can have a look at tobetter's how to in the petitiboot discussion.
I can tell you that the installation process of petitboot is very simpleimple.
My base config is android + coreelec. The first on emmc and the second on sd card.
The os installation requires flashing the image over the memory support and plug it on the N2. Petitboot automatically scans the devices and asks what to boot.

... but it also has a slightly undocumented config file (something like /etc/kexec.conf) where you can add custom entries.

That's basically what I want, I currently have a droidbox UK based company libreelec and Android dual boot but droidbox stopped supporting it it's stuck at Android 6 and libreelec 7!
I hate these limited media boxes the manufacturers control them and how much updating can be done!
Only thing other than Android and core I would want is I wouldn't mind learning the Linux gui systems that are windows like and maybe emulator but not really into games.
I have a 650 usb hard drive I can throw on it

With any SBCs there will be limiting factors, unlike with PCs in terms of upgradability. For one thing, the hardware is "set in stone"and as time passes will near obsolescence. Software support is usually imposed by the soc manufacturer. There are efforts to open source most of it, but it usually takes a lot of time (xu4 is a good example)
