SATA Power Connector Question
What style connector is the SATA Power Connectors on the ODROID-H2 I thought they were regular MOLEX Connectors and they are not.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Are there alternate sources for those cables?
I just got an H2 plus a case, but I failed to notice I need to puirchase the power and SATA cables separately.
SATA cables are not a problem, but these power cables are now $3 ea. + $30 shipping
Can I get them somewhere else with cheaper shipping (aliexpress, ebay, etc?)
Getting just the JST plug with a cable is OK, as I have enough spare SATA power connectors from dead power supplies I can splice to.
All the JST XH sales I see on Aliexpress are advertised as 2.54mm, and their shell doesn't look like it fits the H2 connector.
Are any of these OK? I intend to cut a short piece of wire and splice with another cable with a SATA power connector.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
I already searched AliExpress, but all of those advertize as 2.54mm, not 2.5mm, and I want to be sure it's OK.Maybe like this?
https://ko.aliexpress.com/wholesale?cat ... =jst+xh+4p
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JST_connector
This is what Wikipedia says:
And so does the product datasheet:Used by many R/C batteries. Not 0.1" pitch.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
From the drawing of ODROID-H2 I have, the pitch of the connector is 2.5mm...not 2.54mm.udif wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 5:08 pmI already searched AliExpress, but all of those advertize as 2.54mm, not 2.5mm, and I want to be sure it's OK.Maybe like this?

Some AD says 2.54mm pitch in the title but product specification says 2.5mm, for example.
https://ko.aliexpress.com/item/33045338 ... b201603_55
2.54-2.50mm = 0.04mm and that makes 0.16mm tolerance with 4 pins connector which is not huge.
I would not worry about the pitch 2.54 vs 2.50 but would care of AWG grade.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Thanks.
Once I realized this is used for charging LiPo cells for RC cars (and maybe quadcopters), and usually sold by 10pcs packs or more,
I've asked in my local hobby groups, hoping to get 1-2 here locally much faster.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Oh...great, I wish you have a couple of cables and run with your ODROID-H2 soon. Appreciate if you share how you make the cable later.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
I think this is only 2.0mm and not 2.5 or 2.54mm. And the space between two protruding part must be wider.tobetter wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 6:24 pmThis would be a bit cheaper.gronthazdal wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 6:13 pmHi,

I've attached the HK stock power cable.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Thanks! I ordered one
Ps Wish they are included, because buying a simple cable worth 1/10 of the price for the whole computer is weird...

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Since Ameridroid was out-of-stock, I chose to fabricate my own cables. However, I didn't want to mess with SATA connectors. Therefore I purchased SATA-to-AMP mate-n-lock (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex_connector). Then I purchase the 'other-side' of the AMP Mate-N-Lock on Amazon. Finally, I purchased the proper connectors to mate with the board. These are JST-GH 1.25mm 4-pin. The parts which I purchased could be found here:
JST-XH:

Mate-N-Lock + pins:

SATA-to-Mate-N-Lock:

I also purchased a crimper which was cost effective and got the job done:

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Just to add, the connection should be the same as for old floppy drivers, so sometimes it is easier to find writing floppy sata. I found like that for myself.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
I made my connector out of unused odroid UART cable, its a much better fit that a floppu cable (floppy connectors pins are too big, don't make a good connection and would need to file down the connector to allow it to plug in)
https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/usb-uart-module-kit/
Both ends of the cable are the same so I can make 2 out of the one UART cable. I was a little worried that the smaller wires on the cable would not supply enough voltage but I have had no issues in many many months of use with SDD.

Re: SATA Power Connector Question
Please, where to get longer SATA power cables? I need to place my HDDs somewhere...
I bought everything (also short cables from them) and they told me after that, they don't want to make more Type 1 cases, because there are not enough CPUs for H2 boards.
I regret I gave them money for that, that's product support like a f***...
Thank you.
