SPDIF output

Post by benwillcox »

Hello,

Is there any news on when the SPDIF output will be properly supported? I know that there was an update that allowed SPDIF to work with some versions of Kodi, but what we need is for the main audio output to be output via SPDIF in the same way that this is available on the C2.

Many thanks,
Ben

you can select audio output in the next version. :)
The odroid Setting app include the function to change the Audio output. I recommend to use 64bit version :)

Ah excellent, I look forward to it!
However I'm currently using LineageOS 16. Not quite sure how that works in relation to updates, would it be something I would have to request with Voodik to also add to his distribution?

I will merge this feature when it available.

@benwillcox, please let us know if SPDIF works or not whenever you have a chance to test it. I understand you had waited for this long. :)

Thanks it seems to work well!
The SPDIF is available on pin 2 of J7, but not the GPIO. It's a shame that J7 is not populated with a pin header.

Hopefully this can now be merged in with the latest 32bit release and also LineageOS 16.

Thanks,
Ben

Thank you for confirmation that SPDIF works and hope this can help you and others. Sorry about that and not populated pin header.

One more question: will S/PDIF be availabe on the GPIO Pin 7 under Android? Right now I have no sound with that connection...

You have to enable the SPDIF sound output on the Settings menu.
