HC2 OMV 4 latest update error

Unread post by Fygo » Sun Sep 22, 2019 2:26 am

Hi Guys,

I've been using my HC2 with the latest OMV rom for quite some time now.

I was running docker(Plex) and SMB for over a month without any troubles.
2 weeks ago i tweaked the servers some more with auto-shutdown at night and planned RTC boot in the morning.

Everything worked super until I installed the recent updates in the update management GUI on 19 september 2019.
The day after OMV unmounted my HDD, after i mounted the HDD again the server rebooted ( blue led flashing) but not able to connect over the network.

So I installed the same OMV rom again, booted up the HC2 and it works until i update...

My setup:
HC2 rev. 0.1 20171017
WD Red WD40EFRX 4Tb with NASware 3.0
OMV_4_Odroid_XU4_HC1_HC2.img.xz

Am i doing something wrong?
Should'nt i update anything or only some things?

I'm beginning to think its something with the HDD...
Everytime i mount the HDD and create 'shared folders' and use them, OMV will give errors like(sharedfolders-Userdata.mount: Job sharedfolders-Userdata.mount/start failed with result 'dependency'.)

Update bad timing:

It seems that the hdd is the issue and has nothing to do with the latest updates :(

This post put me on the right track:

Yes, do not activate any "disk properties" in disk settings.

It turned out that there was something wrong with the hdd.

I got a brand new WD Red HDD under warranty, installed the new and never had the issue since.
I have no idea what caused the defect, was it because i touched the "disk properties", activated "SMART", because my setup had a auto shutdown (evening) and RTC boot (morning) once a day or just a fluke ???
