Disable HDMI/GPU

Post by MoikvanDoik »

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but is it possible to fully disable the HDMI port and the GPU?
I use my Odroid N2 as a headless server and it would be nice to lower the power consumption and maybe increase the availiable RAM.
Thank you!

Last time this was tried there were some severe instabilities after freeing the gpu memory

Thank you for your reply.
A lower power consumption would be more important to me than additional RAM.
My power meter shows 8 W in idle. I already checked my govenor. It allows the CPU going down to 100 MHz.
I will check it with another power supply.

Does someone has other ideas to lower the power consumption or do you think that this is already a good value?
Thank you

Look around /sys. There should be an entry to set gpu governor to simple_ondemand instead of performance

Idle mode power consumption must be less than 2.5Watt if you don't connect any devices to the N2.
We measured it on the DC plug path.
So I think your PSU consumes energy more than N2 itself.
