HDvideo output instead of 4K

Unread post by ponots03 » Fri Jul 19, 2019 4:04 am

Hello,

How do we change the settings in Android 9 to output fullHD (1920x1080) instead of 4K ? We noticed that 4K (which we don't need) is degrading fps.
If it cannot be set dynamically in Android , do I need to build a new OS version with fullHD support instead of 4K ? Please help provide instructions.

thanks!

You don't need to build the Android source code.
You can change the HDMI output resolution with ODROID-Settings app. You just need a rebooting.

Do you use a 4K/UHD display?
Some people reported once they disabled the HW overlay feature in developer options, display glitches were reduced a lot.

BTW, Video rendering layer is 4K resolution while the GUI layer is 1920x1080 when you connect the N2 to a 4K/UHD display.
So we can see 4K videos on a 4K display.
But the limited specification of the ARM G52 GPU(and GLES accelerated surfaceflinger in the Android framework), we can't change the GUI layer resolution to higher than 1080p.
