I also have a Kodi 18 for Debian Stretch
How could I get it too? with

Code: Select all

setup-odroid
kodi 17 is installed on your stretch image.

As for the sample, here you go:https://upload.disroot.org/r/GzRQtwJh#D ... TusbQxFKQ=.

I wrote about that in another thread.
It's currently a testing package and can be found here: https://oph.mdrjr.net/meveric/other/tes ... _armhf.deb
It uses OpenGL to run on Desktops and uses gl4es to run it on ODROIDs.

I've just realized the link to the sample of the not-working video isn't valid...
Here is the good one: https://upload.disroot.org/r/YUI9fkMB#u ... 3cKSDLyS8=

Ah yes, now the download is working :)

No sorry you must have found a bug in the exynos HW decoder with your video file or you have just a bad encoded file, I get this error from FFmpeg

[mpeg4 @ 0000018a5eba3480] Video uses a non-standard and wasteful way to store B-frames ('packed B-frames'). Consider using the mpeg4_unpack_bframes bitstream filter without encoding but stream copy to fix it.

But stream copy it with the mpeg4_unpack_bframes option does not make it playable, I had to re-encode it with

ffmpeg -i output.mp4 -c:v libx264 -profile:v high -level:v 4.0 -c:a copy output_new.mp4

After that the video file was working, so to watch that file you would have to transcode it :?

Thank you for this work

I followed the instructions for Kodi.

For Nextflix, i have installed with apt python-pip, with pip, cryptodomex

with Kodi i found kodi-six addon.
I found a netflix addon
I can connect to netflix with mail/password and view netflix/profil.

My problem, InputStream Helper can not install libwidevinecdm.so. Download ChromeOs recovery seem good, i agree the license and when it tell me to wait 10 minutes --> Nothing

i have a another libwidevinecdm.so (md5sum : aa2dc016fe981fa431bd60315b1c9238). i try to put in /home/.kodi/cdm but kodi want to update, and it does not work.

Any idea ?

PS: Sorry, i am french and my English is not very good.

Did you edit /usr/bin/kodi file and write export PATH=$PATH:/sbin somewhere on top of the file ?

Does your /etc/sudoers file look like this?

# directly modifying this file.

%sudo	ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

Dear @AreaScout!

First of all, thank you sosososososo much for your work!
I thought I am advaced enough to create my on build, but had never success and now iamvery happy about using my xu4 as a kodi device. Thanks to your work! :-)
I use it mainly for watching streaming videos (hbo go) and sometimes for watching a downloaded movie.
There are 2 issues i realized and asking for some help:
- cec lost connection after display rate change:
I found the bugreport at xbmc you reported. At the moment I use the original libcec4, did not compile the one mentioned here in the topic. Actually i tried, but i am not sure about replacing the original one. If i want to remove the original with apt, it says kodi depends on it. I can force remove it, but after that I am not sure about the “install” steps how to make it work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :-)

- an issue with the playback. Sometimes in the log i can see a message: ERROR: CBaseRenderer::GetShaderFormat - unsupported format 24, the screen goes blank, the audio works -> so it looks like, the playback does not stop, but it somehow "lost the video".
I do not know if the second related to first (because of refresh rate), and I can imagine, the stream/connection is not perfectly fine, but i have no idea where to start to fix this one.

Best,

Gergely

Yes CEC connection lost is a known issue with 4.14 kernel if the 'Adjust Frame rate' feature is on, there is nothing you can do about it if you can't fix this issue by yourself

If you press the 'o' key on your keyboard what does the onscreen menu say about the codec type ? Can you make a picture of it ?

Image

It happened in the fourth minute of the stream, before it was ok.

The texts on the image:
Video processing info:
Hardware decoding: inactive
decoder: ff-264_v4l2m2m
deinterlace method(?): none <- not sure about the translation
resolution: 1920x1080px ...

And the logs:
https://pastebin.com/gXZ8S7be

Before I used a rpi 3b for media center with OSMC, but had buffering issues.
And now as I see the log, it looks like, buffering issues not related to rpi, but to my ISP.
So maybe the issue comes from the non-reliable channel? The net speed is (on paper) 350MB/25MB and odroid has a wired connection to my gigabit router.

    Will check soon!
The Adjust display refresh was turned off.
The stream I used from HBO GO (HU), so I am not sure if I can give you a sample from that.
And the "funny" part is that is not predictable when will happen. Almost always a stop & restart the episode will play it normally. :(

Sorry, played from original place seems ok.
No issues with playback, nothing in log.
pressing 'o' shows the same for video data.
Now I started a loop to see if 10+ times of playing will also work or not.

          :) Yes!

          Thanks for your help!
What I wanted to ask is about the possible CEC fixes.
Did you try to apply the patches mentioned in this discussion?
If not yet, I would give it a try as the online stream yesterday did the same thing. Not a big deal, and it is really possible that the issue comes from my internet connection stability (Hungarian Telekom is a "weird" ISP) as it happened with the rpi3's osmc too.
Of course I can live with it, but if there is a possible solution, I would give it a try.
I do not know if the refresh rate adjustment can fix it or not, but worth a test, Not to mention, it would be great if the CEC would stay usable if the setting is on.
Of course, if you tested it or it is already in the kernel in the minimal image, I will start looking for an other solution and will use the current stuff happily.

The only thing is that I have to wait for the Tall Blue Heatsink as this xu4 has a built-in chopper which makes film-watching a little bit noisy! :D

No I would have to back port the patches for our 4.14 kernel to make CEC work when the automatic frame rate adjust is on, the reason I did't try it was because there was some effort to bring kernel 5.x to our XU4 AND the second reason was, I don't use it, I use a mini keyboard (https://www.amazon.de/CSL-kabelloses-Mu ... 07NPPWGYN/) it's way more comfortable to use kodi and search i.e the Netflix database

Sure it would be cool to have it because for some peoples there is a need for it, but this is also cool 8-) --->
