The more I thought about it I should have gotten the managed version. I tried to cancel the order but it had already shipped, got it today and I suppose it will work fine.mad_ady wrote:Have fun then. Or a brick
The fact it doesn't have dual LED to indicate gigabit vs 10/100 is a huge letdown, maybe even a deal breaker. I thought the single LED had dual color but it doesn't, just green...WTF. Whomever thought this was acceptable on a business class device needs investigated for drug usage.

I don't think the managed one has dual-colors either, but at least you can see duplex/speed in the web interface. It also supports interface bonding (though I haven't used it) and port mirroring - which is useful if you want to see where your no-name ip camera calls home

How did you knowmad_ady wrote: and port mirroring - which is useful if you want to see where your no-name ip camera calls home![]()

I will try it for a few days and think about the actual need for vlan and the other managed features, but I'm already sure I need an indication of port speed. Much preferred to simply have dual LEDs per port, this standard has worked my entire life they now decide to change :/

It's sometimes even used to repell young people. There is a beeper in our local pub that only young people hear. The owner doesn't want any teenager to come in.rooted wrote:You know they use sound as a torture device. Interesting, I knew young people can hear frequencies us older folks can't. Never thought about it being used like that.plystrym wrote:It's sometimes even used to repell young people. Hi, i have this weird problem, I have xu4 with external drive formatted NTFS,I download movies with Deluge, when I plug this drive into Samsung TV the TV says unsupported format ( of course it support it), when I use win7 just to copy this file into another location TV start to play this file and everything is ok. Do You have idea why this is happening?

Re: Off Topic Banter
How did you create the NTFS volume?
I found that NTFS partitions created under Linux often do not work.
I normally create the Partition (and format it) under Windows, after that the HDD works fine both under Windows and Linux.

Re: Off Topic Banter
Even if I guess you already checked on it:
Are you sure your TV supports NTFS format? Most TVs do, but there might be a few that do not.
What other location are you copying the files on that does work? Is it also a NTFS harddrive?
How big are both? Could it be that the partition it's running on is larger than 2TB? Some devices can only access partitions up to a certain size and 2TB is kinda a limit for some devices.

My Android TV doesn't support NTFS without adding the Paragon app, none of my TVs support NTFS actually.

Re: Off Topic Banter
I have a Samsung TV from 2012, has no WLAN, no SmartTV Capabilities, or things like that.
But I can use a 2.5" NTFS formatted HDD directly on the TV and it's working fine.
I think it's more of an US thing where TVs like Roku and such are the "standard". TVs that come only with online features (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.), and have no sat or cable receiver at all anymore.

I would have to double check my bedroom TV's, maybe they do have NTFS. None are Samsung though.

Re: Off Topic Banter
i have made some more test and i think the problem is deluge software because i tried 2 more things:
1. set up deluge to dwownload to specific folder and after completed move to another(on the same drive) - tv still says format not supported
2. i just copy with mate desktop from one folder to another (still on the same drive) - it worked on tv
it does not make sense, kodi reads these files without a problem, and the TV does not read without copying

Re: Off Topic Banter
maybe deluge is not closing the file or has some extra bytes so they a view bytes at the start or the end are missing or too much.
Kodi and other players may just ignore this, but the TV might have issues with that.
And copying the file to a different location fixes this.
You can try doing a "diff" to compare if the files are in any way different.
If it says nothing at all that means the files are identical, if they are not, then something got changed during copying.

Re: Off Topic Banter
hmm that would mean the files are identical, which also makes me wonder why in one folder they should work and the other it does not.
UNLESS, the original folder or the file is not accessible.
Means the permissions on that folder/file are incorrect and for that can not be read by a normal user or a system like the TV.
Either due to a permission issue, or even a file system issue. Maybe checking the harddrive for errors could help figure out if there's an issue with the folder your files are located from deluge.

Re: Off Topic Banter
I don't know... just did a quick google for Star Trek day and that's what came up. BTW, I'm typing this from my awesome new N2! Having to twist my neck to look at my wife's monitor that I'm "borrowing" while she's napping. It's quite snappy. Booted up first time and moved the mouse and it shut off. Scared me... unplugged and replugged the power and good to go now. wifi is kinda crappy... I got the 300Mb/s dongle, should have got the better one. Wired gigabit is only giving about 140Mb/s too, which seems pretty slow.
Anyway, back off topic. I got a bestbuy gift card and a 10% off coupon so what should I get?

First boot resizes roptfs and powers off. Make sure you upgrade uboot (

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
) and reboot if you have poor network performance.I found yesterday a Back to the Future 3 DeLorean toy car for 20 euro (with doors that open), but I didn't get it because I couldn't stand it if my young son would abuse itAnyway, back off topic. Re: Off Topic Banter
Aw man, that would have been awesome. I ended up buying Solo the movie and my son a pack of pokemon cards. Then found out as we left the store that Target had a special edition 4K + 2 blu ray discs for a few dollars less even after my 10% discount. Life.
Got the N2 running through some phoronix-test-suite benchmarks, then I'm going to try overclocking it and testing with the updated kernel. Ah, fun stuff.

Re: Off Topic Banter
I'm headed out of town again tomorrow, my son was life flighted to a better hospital. My wife flew with him but I must drive.
I'm so thankful that he's hanging on. He has surgery this morning to repair a gaping wound on his stomach from a previous surgery, then he will have his fourth round of chemotherapy. Thanks to everyone who has wished us well, especially @phaseshifter who has kept track though PMs. I really appreciate it mate.

I wish your son well, and you and your family. I just noticed that you're in the Gulf. I live in the Panhandle of FL, so if you need anything let me know.rooted wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 1:34 amI'm headed out of town again tomorrow, my son was life flighted to a better hospital.
