rtl8192cu module should exist in lsmod output.

Can you try Ubuntu 18.04 image?

thanks for your help. I had initially tried 18.04 which worked before i did apt-get updates, upgrade, dist-upgrade.
then rebooting it, somehow the wifi got disabled.

i went back to 16.04 now and same issue.

when i add rtl8192cu to the blacklist...and plugin the module3 wifi...it actually shows wlan0 "unmanaged". but i can't get it to enable.

I'm running 18.04 with Kernel 4.14.111 after full update.

When I plugged an WiFi module 3, I could see the following message.

Which power supply do you use?
Carefully measure the voltage with a DMM between +5V VBUS and GND on the USB host if you have a DMM.
It must be stable at 4.75~5.25volt while the system is running.

Do you mean you bought this official 12V/2A PSU?
https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/12v-2a- ... pply-unit/
We saw many other PSUs had much weaker output power than the specification if they didn't use the official PSU.
If you use our official PSU, you don't need to measure the voltage drop.

In that case, the USB plug or receptacle might have a physical dimensions tolerance issue and it might cause the electrical contact problem.
Adjust the plug insertion depth to see any difference.

yup i brought the original one.

I removed the case and looks like it gets recognized on the plug in now.

however i can't start the wifi device up...shows unmanaged.

Very strange and weird.
Let's try to narrow down root causes.

Can you connect your WiFi module 3 to a PC to check the functionality?

Can you clean the USB host port?
viewtopic.php?f=95&t=15302#p99467

Do you have a USB flash storage and connect it to HC2 and check dmesg output?

i brought it a week ago from Ameridroid...will let them know i guess.

Oops! It seems to be a mechanical tolerance issue in the USB plug.
