Direct driving 40pin RGB tft from GPIO (C0)

Unread postby iwikta » Tue Jan 02, 2018 11:26 am

Hi there all, was just wondering how to go about direct driving a 40pin rgb tft from the C0 like is being done with the raspberry pi here https://tinyurl.com/ydx7j8wo

Is this possible? I hope so. I would really like to do it.

Thanks in advance for anyone that replies.

It is not possible because S805/S905 SoC doesn't support the Memory-to-GPIO DMA transfer.
You have to use an HDMI display.

:( That's a real pity

Or can I use the 3.5inch Touchscreen Shield https://tinyurl.com/hwuwk2z yes?

Its framerate is limited at 15fps. So it is not suitable for building a gaming device.

This dirty cheap 480*320 LCD worked well with odroid. it supported 60fps as well as audio output. but I couldn't develop a touchscreen driver and i didn't need a touch input. :D
