GPU Drivers update broke compatibility

Unread post by elModo7 » Tue Dec 15, 2015 5:56 am

I have to say that my ODROID XU4 works like a charm, vnc, ssh tunnel, dyndns, java minecraft server...

Chromium worked really well with for example youtube after I updated the app (it asked me about doing an os update and I said yes) it fixed vnc server because it was not displaying anything before. However, youtube on chromium now has artifacts on video like this ones and openarena doesn't work anymore.

It's not crucial for me right now but something happened there, I mean VNC wasn't working, chromium and openarena were working, now openarena doesn't want to start, chrome shows artifacts like if it were accelerated via hardware and VNC just works now sending the desktop while it wasn't sending anything but a gray screen before.
Any help or ideas what could be causing this or how to solve it?

This a bug in the new version of chromium-browser v47 and isn't an issue with MALI drivers while v45 was working perfectly fine with video playback, refer to this thread for same issue however, here is my work around.
XeoSal wrote:I have the Chromium v45 package on my repo, this build is actually compiled on ubuntu 15.04 but it should work perfectly on 15.10, just download to your home directory and install those two packages:
http://oph.mdrjr.net/odrobian/pool/main ... _armhf.deb
http://oph.mdrjr.net/odrobian/pool/main ... _armhf.deb

Code: Select all

odroid:$ sudo dpkg -i chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra_45.0.2454.101-0ubuntu0.15.04.1.1183_armhf.deb
odroid:$ sudo dpkg -i chromium-browser-odrobian_45.0.2454.101-0ubuntu0.15.04.1.1183_armhf.deb
You can use this till Ubuntu decides to roll a new update to the chromium-package that's when you can remove this package and revert back to stock settings.

Man... you are awesome :)
Issue fixed, it was a bad chromium version.
Thank you XeoSal!
